Overkill’s The Walking Dead is clearly in trouble, the PC version was underwhelming, we gave it 4/10 in our review, and the console version has been delayed yet again. The game was scheduled to be on the shelves next month but that is no longer the case. Here’s the short statement from Starbreeze.
Starbreeze AB is currently evaluating and reviewing the performance of the game OVERKILL’s The Walking Dead on consoles. Starbreeze has decided to postpone the release date from its original February 2019 date, further information regarding the future release will be announced at a later date.
Sales on the PC version were so low that Starbreeze had to file for reconstruction, roughly the same as going into administration in the UK. They were counting on the console release to inject some money back in to the firm but with that delayed until further notice will the company survive?
Starbreeze also have PayDay 3 and System Shock 3 in production, although we’ve not heard much about them at all.
