This dramatic image of lightning striking over Manama on Thursday night is taken from a video sent to the GDN by Angeleac Camo.

The video, which appears to have been filmed on a boat offshore, captures the moment a huge bolt of lightning illuminates the night sky over the capital.

Hailstones, thunder and lightning accompanied downpours across Bahrain on Thursday night, followed by blue skies and sun on Friday.

More rain is forecast on Saturday night, followed by thundery showers, very strong gusts of wind and rough seas on Sunday.

Strong winds and rough seas are expected to continue on Monday, but the day is likely to remain dry.

Weather conditions are then forecast to remain pleasant for the rest of the week.
