Trump designates Brazil "major non-NATO Ally".

WASHINGTON, Aug 1 (KUNA) -- US President Donald Trump designated Wednesday Brazil as a "major Non-NATO Ally" of the US. In a Memorandum to the Secretary of State, Trump noted he designates "the Federative Republic of Brazil as a major Non-NATO Ally of the United States for the purposes of the Act and the Arms Export Control Act." On Tuesday, Trump told reporters at the White House that he has a "great relationship" with Brazil and "fantastic relationship" with President Jair Bolsonaro, saying "he's a great gentleman." He added "we're going to work on a free trade agreement with Brazil. Brazil is a big trading partner." In March during the visit of Bolsonaro to the White House, Trump had announced that he intends to designate Brazil as a major non-NATO ally. (end) si.tg
