Getting around the Town of Babylon on Small Business Saturday will be a little easier this year.
This is thanks to a partnership between the Babylon Industrial Development Agency and Lyft. They are offering a promotion on Saturday between 8 a.m. and 9 p.m. to connect residents in and around the area that are visiting stores within the town.
"Small Business Saturday is all about celebrating the local businesses that drive the success of our local economies and highlight the quality goods and services they provide," Tom Dolan, the acting CEO of the Babylon IDA, said in a statement.
"Through this partnership with Lyft, our residents and those looking to travel into the Town of Babylon will have an additional incentive to shop local during the first official shopping weekend of the holiday season," he added.
Lyft is deploying a "geo-fence" around the town's boundaries, offering a promotion code ("TOBIDA") for Lyft customers traveling in or to the town during the promotion. These customers will receive a $10 credit on their trip.
All ride credits are funded "solely by the revenue of the IDA," officials said in a press release.
