The La Trobe Journal was founded in 1968 by the Friends of the State Library of Victoria, Australia, in order to promote the library's Australiana collection. Its scope has since expanded to the library's entire collection, publishing on topics as diverse as medieval manuscripts, book illustration, and Victoria's gold rush.
