Sotto: Senate likely to craft resolution to honor Eddie Garcia.

The Senate will 'most probably' craft a resolution that would honor the late actor Eddie Garcia and his contribution to Philippine show business, Senate Preside Vicente Sotto III said Friday.

'Most probably. We are thinking about it. We are thinking of how to craft it... to befit him and also to befit the Senate,' Sotto said in an interview at the Senate.

Sotto also said a resolution that would endorse Garcia to become a National Artist is a 'very distinct possibility' in the Senate.

Sotto then lauded Garcia's professionalism, noting that the actor was 'never late and never absent' for work.

'He is the best character actor I can think of pero yung professionalism niya yun ay something to be proud of (his professionalism is something to be proud of),' Sotto said.

Aside from professionalism, the Senator also admired Garcia's compassion towards fellow actors.

'I see it in his work as an actor. Kapag nag-focus siya 'dun talagang focus siya dun sa role niya, trabaho niya (He was very focused on his role, his work). And he even for so many times kapag narinig sa co-actors ( if he hears from co-actors), he goes out of his way to make you feel better, to make you feel good and make you feel confident,' he said.

Multi-awarded actor Garcia died at the Makati Medical Center on Thursday. He was 90 years old.

On June 8, Garcia was rushed to the hospital after he suffered neck fracture while filming an upcoming teleserye.
