Plans for new housing sites as demand grows; New Homes.

HOUSEBUILDER Barratt North East will start work on six new local projects during 2013.

When complete, these developments will deliver around 1,100 new homes and underpin hundreds of jobs in the region.

The new programme of projects will underpin future growth including site acquisitions, major new planning wins and partnerships.

Fenton Hewitt, sales director for Barratt North East, said: "Buyer confidence is steadily improving and we're seeing encouraging demand for our homes.

"The fact that we are starting new sites is also good news for local jobs.

"One of the key issues for anyone buying a home continues to be getting the right mortgage. NewBuy, the 95% mortgage backed by Government, is only available on new build homes, which means customers - both first time buyers and home movers - only need a 5% deposit."

Barratt North East is planning to start a range of new developments in the next 12 months, including: | Grey Towers Farm, Nunthorpe: 295 homes | The Maples, Hebburn: 171 homes | Newcastle: 80 homes in Phase 1 of the Scotswood regeneration | Burnopfield Cricket Club: 56 homes | Killingworth: 116 homes | Merrington Park, Spennymoor: 365 homes
