Mu Sigma Phi Sorority to hold Brilyante 2019 !-- -- (The Philippine Star) - August 5, 2019 - 12:00am MANILA, Philippines The Mu Sigma Phi Sorority of the University of the Philippines College of Medicine, the first medical sorority in the Philippines and Asia, presents a line-up of events for its 85th year geared towards its advocacy in empowering the geriatric community through socially relevant activities in partnership with this year's beneficiary: the National Institutes of Health-Institute on Aging in aid of training of the DOH Regional Geriatric centers' staff. The sorority is also celebrating 85 years of excellence and glorious sisterhood which have built and strengthened the foundation of the sorority.

Brilyante 2019: More Luminous Through Time is a benefit gala fashion show wherein renowned fashion designers, models, celebrities and women doctors will come together to celebrate women empowerment, as well as promote and support geriatric wellness. The charity event hopes to bring to light the issues on self-image and longevity that concern women, most especially geriatric patients.

It aims to promote a positive outlook and a proactive stance in empowering one to face this inevitable phase of life with renewed vigor, hope and confidence. The Mu Sigma Phi Sorority held its first Brilyante, in celebration of its 75th anniversary, at the NBC Tent runway, Bonifacio Global City, on Aug.

28, 2009. Its commitment then was to promote and support the fight against cervical cancer. On its second run, the event aims to promote geriatric health and wellness.

Proceeds will go to equipping its geriatric centers with educational materials and financing the training of its health workers. Other geriatric projects include financial assistance in the retrofitting of the Philippine General Hospital Geriatric Clinic to create a more elderly-friendly environment, aging and longevity webinars, Wellness Initiative and Support for the Elderly (WISE) Health Caravan, and ImMUnity for the Elderly.

The event will be held at the new 5-star Sarus Grand Ballroom of the Marquis Events Place, located at the Bonifacio Global City in Taguig, on Aug. 31. The fashion show will be featuring designs from Albert Andrada, Bergamo, Edgar Madamba, Mak Tumang, Michael Leyva, Nina Inabel, Rajo Laurel and Rustan's, and directed by esteemed fashioned director, Robby Carmona.
