Letter: VOICE OF THE NORTH - No relevance in ancient history.
Byline: DOUGIE MOFFATT
THE reply from Blaydon representative Dave Anderson to a letter of mine (Voice of the North, October 13 & 7) makes me wonder why MPs always hark back to history?
Mrs T was years ago. Mr Anderson's Labour Party has been in Government for over 11 years now, so why hark back to the past? He stated that unemployment is at its lowest level for some years, but could he tell us why our region is the worst area for unemployment?
I have worked for the same firm for over 36 years and despite the minimum wage, I feel no better off than I was 10 years ago.
This region is much bigger than Mr Anderson thinks. It's not just the Newcastle Gateshead Quayside, but runs from Teesside to Berwick, and there is a lot that needs done behind the Quayside. Hospitals and schools are PFI paid for, so we will be paying for years.
Recent front page lead stories in The Journal seem to show they listen then walk away, laughing at us.
