ISC holds table tennis tourneys.

INDIAN Sports Centre (ISC), in association with Qatar Table Tennis Association (QTTA), recently organised ISC Mega Mart Open and Inter Organisation Table Tennis Tournament at Qatar Table Tennis Training Centre at Ras Bu Aboud. More than 175 people from different age groups participated in the tournaments. The first part of the tournament was open for Indian nationals while the second one was an inter organisation tournament where various Indian owned and managed companies participated as teams. Doha Chapter of Institute of Chartered Accountants of India won the inter-organisation tournament while Larsen & Toubro became the runners up and Galfar Al Misnad second runners up. Open category winners (first two places): boys' under-14 singles Dhanya Kumar Adapa, Adheep Sengupta; girls' under-14 singles Samridhi Bharadwaj, Tanish Kaur Sodhi; boys' under-19 singles - Kaushik Manikandan, Umang Sanjeev Gupta; girls' under-19 singles - Mithila Sunil Kumar, Kundanika Khanna; men's 19-40 singles Subham Agarwal, Mohsin; men's above 40 singles S Ramakrishna, Amarjeet Kulkarni; women's above-19 singles Rukkaiya Pachisa, Saroj Mehta; doubles boys' under-19 Kaushik Manikandan and Dhanya Kumar Adapa, Arshdeep Sodhi and Umang Gupta; girls' under-19 - Kundanika Khanna and Samridhee Bharadwaj, Aditi Gorle and Tarika Gorle; men's above-19 S Ramkrishna and Mohsin, Vipul Kumar and Amarjeet Kulkarni. Ambassador of India to Qatar HE P Kumaran was the chief guest and Eli George, technical manager of QTTA, and Maneesh, marketing manager of Mega Mart, were the guests of honour at the closing ceremony. Nilangshu Dey, president of ISC, welcomed the audience and highlighted the partnership with QTTA in organising tournaments since last year to promote table tennis among the expatriates. HE Kumaran appreciated the role of ISC in inculcating the culture of sports among Indians and lauded QTTA for supporting various initiatives by ISC for promoting table tennis in Qatar. Habibun Nabi, general secretary, compered the ceremony. (TNN)
