THE historic Hopewell Farm in upstate Crawford has been listed for sale by Ellis Sotheby's International Realty.

Also known as The John I. Crawford Farm, it was built in the mid-1780s and added to the National Register of Historic Places as one of the best-preserved farms from that time.

Crawford, whose family lends its name to the town, settled the region and began building the farm in the Federal style. Updated in the Victorian style in 1890, outbuildings include a smokehouse, carriage house and barn, which may be the oldest surviving barn in the United States.

The current owner was awarded a grant from the New .York State Barns Restoration and Preservation Program to stabilize the foundation and structure, replace the roof and sills.

Today, the five bedroom, 3-bath house retains many historic features including wide-plank hardwood floors, beamed ceilings and a fireplace mantel imported from England.

The carriage house has two rental units, and the property overlooks the Shawangunk Mountains and the Great Appalachian Valley

Ellis Sotheby's Jacob Matthews is listing the property at $695,000.

VETERAN New York broker and longtime cable television presenter Carmen Lee Shue is set to make a guest appearance.
