Elegance meets panache.

Cufflinks are not just what your grandfather wore or what your boss plays with during meetings, they are minor works of art on your sleeve and Robert Tateossian the 'King of cufflinks' recently visited Saks Fifth Avenue in Bahrain and told GulfWeekly about his fabulous line of men's accessories.I'm going to hazard a guess that men who invest and spend on cufflinks like to pay attention to detail and take pride in expressing themselves. Purchasing a Robert Tateossian pair of cufflinks enables this personal touch not only on French cuffs but also with men sporting a thobe. "Men in Qatar and Doha are among the highest wearers of cufflinks but the stem needs to be 30 per cent longer to fit the eyelets in the thobe cuffs. I just came from Doha and I am developing something just for them. I analysed the problem and came up with a solution," said Robert. His exquisite lines range in price from BD69 to BD26,000 and cater to all ages. For the younger generation or more contemporary man they have designed 'deadly creatures'. This line features insects/animals that are found in their natural environment encapsulated in colourful resins backed by white mother of pearl.A 'Funky Skulls' line is another 'hip' choice and features rhodium-plated metal skulls with DJ earphones, or a baseball cap. The eyes are adorned with Swarovski crystals for a final sparkling touch. For the collector type, you can find cufflinks in the limited edition 'Silver Ammonite' line made from rare natural ammonite fossils developed millions of years ago from the Jurassic and Paleozoic eras. My favourite is the 18K Gold Cable Meteorite cufflinks made from natural Muonionalusta and Gibeon meteorite, sourced from Sweden and Namibia, that have the 'Widmanstatten' patterns (shiny etches patterns formed over millions of years from slow cooling) only limited to 50 pairs. Out of this world!Next year is the brand's 25th anniversary and it is planning to move into leather goods, iPhone and iPad cases covered with jewel elements. Also in the pipeline, according to Robert, is a move to eye-glasses and even a fragrance. The Robert Tateossian line is based in London and available in more than 50 countries worldwide with around 1,000 points of sale attracting celebrities, models, professionals, politicians and even heads of state.***Being Canadian, I was excited to visit Toronto-born company La Vie en Rose last Wednesday during the launch of its Spring/Summer collection. Brand manager Vidhi Khanna from Apparel Group shared her views about this season. She said: "The inspiration is floral, bold colours, animal prints, butterflies and unicorns. We do very well in our sleepwear collections and swimwear because of the ease of mix and matching between tops and bottoms because the colour palettes are very complimentary."I adore the swimwear line because the quality is supurb and the swim bottoms come with mini-skirts so they are less revealing. For the more endowed women they even go up to D+ sizes. La Vie En Rose stands for 'Life is Beautiful' with a mission to enhance the beauty of women. My deal of the week: When you spend BD30 you will save BD5 instantly. They will be holding this promotion for a full month.
