Down and totally out.

MARK HUGHES has urged his home-town club Wrexham to ensure they bounce straight back into League football next season.

Hughes made his clarion call as the Dragons bade a sad farewell to League football at The Racecourse by crashing 3-1 at home to Accrington Stanley yesterday.

The game spelt the end of 87 years of League football at the ground, with Wrexham consigned to the Blue Square Premier Division next season.

But Sparky believes it is imperative Wrexhamrise again at once to ensure the traditional conveyor belt of football talent in north Wales is not lost.

"Just think of the abundance of players to have come out of north-east Wales, and the North Wales coast in recent years," said Hughes.

"Wrexham have always tapped into that ability. It's important for them to be able to keep that going."
