Could it be a conger eel..?

EXPERTS have cast their eye over footage of a mystery sea creature captured on video in the Tyne.

Kevin Burton filmed the unknown creature at Tynemouth and uploaded the footage to YouTube.

Dr Per Berggren, senior lecturer at the Marine School of Natural & Environmental Sciences at Newcastle University, said: "It is a bit difficult to tell from the video due to the quality. The most exciting option would be a conger eel which can grow to a maximum 3m length. But it is difficult to be sure from the video clip. Alternatively it may be a piece of kelp being moved in an eel-like way by tidal current."
