A selection of offences from the magistrates'' courts Natasha Smith, 23, of Cartmel Grove, Bensham, Gateshead. Admitted being in possession of amphetamine and cannabis in Newcastle on June 8. Discharged conditionally for a year.

Emma Thompson, 32, of Bertram Crescent, Pendower. Failed to advise the DWP that she was working while claiming benefits in 2010. Sentenced to a 12-month conditional discharge after pleading guilty.

Casey Carlyle, 21, of Byker Bridge House, Newcastle. Admitted stealing two bottles of Vera Wang perfume from Fenwick, Newcastle, on August 4. Ordered to pay compensation of pounds 90.

Kevin Temple, 22, of Saint Cuthbert's Green, Newcastle. Took a van without the owner's consent and drove it without a licence or insurance in Newcastle on August 5. He must attend an attendance centre for a total of 24 hours following a guilty plea.

Michael Connor, 26, of Chelsea Gardens, Deckham. Sent to prison for five months after pleading guilty to assaulting a woman in Gateshead on June 13 and August 2. Michael Trotter, 25, of Binsby Gardens, Wrekenton. Stole a Philips shaver valued at pounds 49.99 from Sainsbury's, Team Valley, on August 10. Sentenced to a 12-month conditional discharge following a guilty plea.

Mark Wharton, 41, of Split Crow Road, Deckham. Entered Gateshead Snooker Centre as a trespasser with intent to steal on July 26.

Ordered to pay compensation of pounds 150 after pleading guilty.

Marc Alder, 22, of Westbourne Avenue, Gateshead. Admitted being drunk and disorderly at Gateshead Stadium Metro on August 8. To pay fines and costs of pounds 133. Robert Atkinson, 28, of Lilac Avenue, Sunderland. Pleaded guilty to the possession of cannabis resin in Gateshead on August 11. He must pay pounds 173.

Jonathan Rutter, 33, of no fixed abode. Assaulted a woman in Morpeth on August 21. Given a restraining order after pleading guilty. Kyle Davidson, 21, of Alvescott Road, Canterton, Oxfordshire. Admitted destroying five cars to the value of pounds 2,550 belonging to Bristol Street Motors and causing criminal damage to another vehicle belonging to a woman in Morpeth on August 5. Also resisted a police officer. Sentenced to 180 hours' unpaid work.

Jake Dimmick, 18, of Shotton Avenue, Blyth. Stole San Miguel lager valued at pounds 11 from the Co-op, Blyth, on August 3. Discharged conditionally for 12 months after pleading guilty. Information supplied by the Courts Service
