 (rĭm′ə-nē, rē′mē-)
A city of northern Italy on the Adriatic Sea south-southeast of Ravenna. Founded by Umbrians, it became a strategic Roman military base after the third century bc. Rimini was ruled as part of the Papal States from 1509 to 1860.
