 (här′lən), John Marshall 1833-1911.
American jurist. As an associate justice of the US Supreme Court (1877-1911) he was known for his outspoken dissenting opinions. His grandson John Marshall Harlan (1899-1971) also served as an associate justice of the Court (1955-1971).
