Fraser River Salmon Strikes of 1900-1901 and the Birth of Modern British Columbia
As the train slowly picked up pace on the way out of the city, the railway followed the
Fraser River, passing Hell's Gate, where 200 million gallons of water surge through the canyon every minute.
The
Fraser River gold rush had begun a year earlier, and tens of thousands of people poured into the town of what was then called Whatcom on their way up north.
Many of the members have participated in earlier expeditions like the Indus River Expedition (1978), Swat White Water (1981), Ravi-Indus-Chenab Expedition (RICE) 1984, Team Indus 1985 from the source of the Indus in Tibet, China and
Fraser River Kayaking (2016).

The ancient village of c'esna?em was founded about 5,000 years ago at what was then the mouth of the
Fraser River, and is today in Vancouver's Marpole area.
In 1912, he traveled to British Columbia to write songs in support of the
Fraser River Strike of Great Canadian Northern railroad workers, the best-known being "Where the
Fraser River Flows."
The
Fraser River in western Canada is flowing with tiny time capsules.
Lampreys can also be parasitic in estuaries, yet very little is known about these parasite-host relationships outside of the
Fraser River (Beamish, 1980; Beamish and Neville, 1995).
This summer,
Fraser River programs will run in Fort Langley and Abbotsford.
