The Federal Trade Commission's (
FTC's) Bureau of Consumer Protection has filed a comment with the Federal Communications Commission on the FCC's proposed privacy rule for broadband internet access service providers.

FTC claims that YouTube breached the personal data privacy of young users, which requires giving "notice to parents and obtain their verifiable consent before collecting children's personal information online."
The settlement was approved by the
FTC in a 3-2 vote, sources told US media.
In a statement, the Control Yuan said the settlement agreement took the
FTC only 10 months to reach, replacing an earlier decision that the commission spent two years and eight months making after an investigation that ended in the imposition of a massive fine for Qualcomm's violation of Taiwan's anti-trust law.
"If talks break down, the
FTC could take the matter to court in what would likely be a bruising legal fight," said the report.
Facebook and the
FTC are currently in discussion over the actual and final amount of the fine, which is yet to be finalised.
The
FTC's exact findings in its Facebook investigation and the total amount of the fine, which the agency's five commissioners have discussed at a private meeting in recent weeks, have not been finalized, two of the people said.
The prosecution has been investigating allegations that a number of former
FTC senior officials have violated the act to get jobs or sign consulting contracts with large firms after quitting the watchdog.
