Horse racing tips: Pontefract, Lingfield and Uttoxeter – Tuesday July 9
Today’s horse racing picks are from Pontefract, Lingfield and Uttoxeter

There are five meetings across the UK and Ireland for punters to tackle on Tuesday.

Flat action comes from Pontefract (2.10-5.17), the all-weather card at Lingfield (2.25-5.30), Tramore (5.10-8.20) and Brighton (5.25-7.55), while Uttoxeter (4.33-8.05) stages the day’s sole jumps fixture.

Among our fancies is Simon and Ed Crisford’s entrant in the feature race at Pontefract.

Horse racing tips: Pontefract 3.10

Nine go to post in this one-mile Listed race for fillies and mares, for which the live contenders include Ralph Beckett’s Doha and the top-rated Astral Beau for Pam Sly. Naaey has scope for better things after only two starts but may be best watched on her first run in 326 days.

However, the one who appeals most is CHOISYA for the in-form Simon and Ed Crisford yard and champion jockey William Buick.

The Night Of Thunder filly went close in this grade on Kempton’s Polytrack on her return in April, when she was beaten only a head, then ran well for a long way in May at Goodwood (1m, soft).

That was also in Listed company and the form of that race has worked out well, with two of the first three fighting out a Group 3 race at Epsom next time. Choisya should have plenty to say for herself.

Selection: Choisya @ SP with BetMGM

Horse racing tips: Lingfield 3.25

TEN COMMITMENTS may be good enough to give Jamie & Saffie Osborne a winner in this Class 5 handicap over seven furlongs.

The Due Diligence gelding has improved for a move into handicaps this summer, finishing second at Salisbury and Nottingham over six furlongs – appearing to want a step up in trip on both occasions – before duly opening his account at Leicester over seven furlongs late last month.

He finished well to get his head in front at the East Midlands track 12 days ago and returns to the all-weather rated only 2lb higher. He has the scope to carry on his recent progress.

In-form rivals All Agleam and Never Dream will provide stiff opposition but Ten Commitments should prove equal to the task.

Selection: Ten Commitments @ SP with BetMGM

Horse racing tips: Uttoxeter 5.35

Brothers Dan and Harry Skelton can team up for a win in this 2m 4f handicap chase here with GET UP MUSH, as the six-year-old attempts to make it 2-2 over fences.

He was neat and tidy in winning with relative comfort over a furlong longer at this track last month on his first run in 444 days.

Afterwards, former champion jockey Harry said he was confident the horse has more in the locker and connections have given Get Up Mush a sensible break to get over the exertions of that outing.

He could be capable of running up a sequence of wins this summer and can stamp his ability on this novices’ handicap.

Selection: Get Up Mush @ SP with BetMGM
