Your beautiful island getaway in Animal Crossing: New Horizons on Switch will be a charming and fun adventure for months to come. However, your time in paradise won’t be without a very small amount of danger.

While shaking trees to find more branches or to look for other goodies, you might run across one of the island’s only dangerous inhabitants: wasps.

Every so often, when you shake a tree in Animal Crossing, it might drop a wasp nest right in front of your villager. If you don’t act fast, the wasps will attack, leaving a nasty sting on your face.

Thankfully, the damage isn’t permanent, and there are several ways to cure a wasp sting in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. In this guide, we’ll tell you all the different ways you can get your face back to normal, plus we’ll show you how to defend yourself against wasps (which also look like bees, if you ask us).

If you talk to Tommy Nook as he wanders around the island, he may randomly tell you one of the many ways you can cure a wasp sting.

If you get stung, you can head over to Resident Services and have the Nooks sell you the medicine you need.

If you don’t feel like wasting your hard-earned Bells or aren’t near Resident Services, you can also speak to your fellow villagers. One of them might offer you the DIY recipe so you can craft as many as you’d like as a backup, in case you get stung again.

Thankfully, there aren’t any major downsides to getting stung by a wasp (unless you count your appearance). However, if you get stung again while already stung and showing it, you may pass out. So be careful.

How to avoid getting stung by wasps

Wasp nests are an unavoidable part of life in New Horizons, but there is a way to go shaking trees without fear.

When you’re certain you’re going to shake some trees, either to get more branches or look for elusive bagworms, always have your net equipped.

If you’re fast enough, you can actually catch the wasps that fall from their nest before they have a chance to sting you. With your net equipped, shake a tree, and if a nest falls, the moment the wasps come out, swing your net at them, and you’ll scoop them up before they attack.

Catching wasps will be an essential skill to master, especially if you want to fill out your museum’s bug section.
