This feature is available only when using a DualSense™ wireless controller, DualSense Edge™ wireless controller (CFI-ZCP series, sold separately), or a supported third-party controller (sold separately) for PlayStation®5 consoles.
For information about device compatibility and use, check the instructions included with your device. Not all devices work with your console.
There's no setup needed to play collaboratively using an Access™ controller.
You need to have two controllers paired to your console to use this feature.
How to use the assist controller
After setting up, you need to take the following steps each time you want to use an assist controller.
Press the PS button on the controller you want to use as the main controller. The user selection appears.
Select a user to assign the main controller to.
Press the PS button on the controller you want to use as the assist controller. The user selection screen appears.
Select the same user to assign the assist controller to as the user assigned to the main controller. You can now begin playing your game in the same way you would with a single controller.
These functions aren't available on the assist controller: haptic feedback, adaptive triggers, mic functions, and custom button assignments.
Your DualSense Edge wireless controller can only be used as the main controller, not as an assist controller.
You don't have to re-connect the assist controller if you quit one game and start another.
To use another controller as your main controller, turn off the controller you're using now, and then press the PS button on the controller you want to use.
