The F1 schedule has expanded to a record 24 races for the 2024 season, with the calendar more packed than ever.

We have now passed the halfway point of the 2024 campaign, with the European season in full swing and the teams in full flow as the calendar takes in its traditional heartland, before returning to the ‘flyaway’ races later in the year.

Which race is next on the F1 schedule?

Round 13: Hungarian Grand Prix

The Hungarian Grand Prix will see the drivers move from the high-speed surroundings of Silverstone to the high-downforce requirements of the Hungaroring, near Budapest.

With the season having just tipped past the halfway stage, only two races remain until the summer break – with the Hungarian Grand Prix representing the restart after a brief period of respite following a demanding triple-header of Spain, Austria and Britain, with Hungary and Belgium to come as a double-header to round off five races in six weeks.

There is still a lot of racing to be done before then, however, that will be consequential in seeing how the championship tables form heading into the summer shutdown.

When is the Hungarian Grand Prix?

The Hungarian Grand Prix will take place from Friday 19 until Sunday 21 July, with the race getting underway at 3pm local time [2pm BST] on Sunday 21 July 2024.

Where is the Hungarian Grand Prix?

The Hungaroring has been a fixture on the Formula 1 calendar since the mid-1980s, and has been seen as a big test for how well the cars’ high-downforce packages run.

With a mixture of medium and low-speed corners punctuated by short bursts of throttle, much of the middle part of the lap for the drivers is spent with the steering wheel almost constantly turning, while the start/finish straight with the braking zone into Turn 1 offers the best overtaking opportunity on the track.

There is a chance for the drivers to hit back straight away if they are passed though, with another DRS zone through the kink of Turn 2 and into Turn 3 that has also been a key passing opportunity in recent years.

Lewis Hamilton has been the king of the Hungaroring over the years, as an eight-time winner around the circuit.

Is the Hungarian Grand Prix an F1 Sprint weekend?

No, the Sprint format will not be in place for the Hungarian Grand Prix, with the next running of the Sprint set to come at the United States Grand Prix at Austin in October.
