Walmart is hyping supposedly huge savings with its Walmart Deals sale, which is designed to rival Amazon’s upcoming Prime Day sale.

But promises of enormous deals often underwhelm, and this sale is no different.

Still, there are solid discounts to be found. We’ve waded through the markdowns to surface only truly good deals on items that Wirecutter has rigorously tested and recommends.

A smaller, 5.5-inch screen and softer buttons make this handheld console a great choice for younger players. You can play the same video game content here as on other Switch models, just in a more affordable, lightweight package. This version of the console has a subtle Animal Crossing design and comes with a full Animal Crossing download.

Other things to know: Console is handheld only; controls are built in and can’t be detached. No kickstand. Best for someone who doesn’t care about connecting to a TV, or for a family member with smaller hands.

A truly budget-oriented 4K TV, this bright, responsive model is specifically outfitted to complement modern PC and console gaming. Google TV is built in, and its Game Accelerator 120 feature supports variable refresh rate and fast, snappy gameplay.

Other things to know: Lacks the local dimming and mini-LED technology of our top pick. Has only a 60 Hz refresh rate. Lacks the HDMI 2.1 inputs to take full advantage of current-gen game consoles.

This Walmart-exclusive version of our longtime favorite portable carpet and upholstery cleaner gets the job done. It’s a game-changer for small messes, particularly if you have pets or young kids.

Other things to know: Negligible differences between this model and our pick (primarily an exclusive color). Designed to tackle small areas only. Water tank is difficult to clean. One-year warranty is shorter than coverage on the competition.

This less-expensive option offers most of the same Apple Watch functions as pricier models, including push notifications, heart-rate monitoring, and crash detection. Plus, it’s water-resistant up to 50 meters.

Other things to know: Lacks premium features. Deal is for the GPS-enabled model with a 40 mm face size, an aluminum case, and a Sport Loop. Not the lowest we’ve seen. Deal price available on three colors.

With enough processing power, memory, and storage for most day-to-day work, our soon-to-be-replaced budget MacBook pick remains a good option when it’s on sale. It boasts a lightweight yet solid construction, battery life of about 14 hours, a comfortable keyboard, and industry-leading customer support.

Other things to know: M1 processor is starting to show its age after three years. Comes with 8 GB RAM, a 256 GB solid-state drive, a 13.3-inch Retina display, one 3.5 mm jack, and two Thunderbolt 3 ports.

Everyone can use a little more power while they’re out and about, and this power bank has enough juice for study sessions, power outages, and any other situation. Unlike many other power banks, this model comes with two USB-C PD ports, two USB-A ports, and a USB-C cable.

Other things to know: No pass-through charging, so you can’t charge other devices while the power bank itself is charging. No information screen, but a ring of small lights signals when it’s charging and roughly how much battery life remains. 18-month warranty. New low price reflects in cart.

We were blown away by this corded leaf blower, which is the most powerful model we’ve ever tested (even more than our top pick). You control it with a three-speed thumb dial that’s easy to reach and turn.

Other things to know: The smaller handle and lack of a front grip make it harder to control and more tiring on the arms. Particularly straining on the forearms, especially at higher speeds. A worthwhile trade-off, however, if you need to move a lot of leaves and air.

For eight years in a row, this model has been the very best broom we’ve tested, with a design, texture, density, and bristle quantity that no other broom can match. It also offers a comfortable grip and good balance.

Other things to know: Doesn’t come with a dustpan. Gentle sweeping is more effective, as otherwise you may flick heavier debris away. Some assembly required. Rarely goes on sale. At Walmart, ships free with a Plus membership or trial, or with orders over $35.

Thanks to this model’s consistent performance and easy-to-use interface, it has been our pick for the best kettle since 2013. There’s little variation in the amount of time it takes to boil a full kettle of water, and it offers great accuracy in holding water at a set temperature.

Other things to know: Three-year warranty is quite generous. Some owners complain that the button labels wear off over time and that the kettle breaks within a year or two, but we don’t think these problems are widespread.
