A New Jersey man is facing drunken driving charges after reportedly crashing his car into July 4 revelers in New York City, killing three people.

Here’s what we know from published reports about the crash Thursday night.

The incident happened around 9 p.m. at Corlears Hook Park, on the Lower East Side.

A car reportedly crashed into the park during a Fourth of July celebration.

Driver in NYC fatal July 4 crash is from NJ

Police have said Daniel Hyden, 44, from Monmouth Junction, New Jersey was behind the wheel of the car that slammed into the gathering.

He has been charged with driving under the influence and driving without a license. Additional charges are possible.

The New York Post reported Hyden is a substance-abuse counselor who’s written a book about addiction and preventing uncessary deaths.

Who died in NYC fatal July 4 crash?

Six people were injured and another three were killed.

Two of the injured people were children.

Two of the victims have been identified. Lucille Pinkney, 59, and Herman Pinkney, 38, both lived nearby. It was not immediately clear if the two were related.

The third person killed had not yet been identified.

What happened in NYC fatal July 4 crash?

Hyden was reportedly driving his Ford F-150 near the park when he allegedly sped through a stop sign Water and Cherry streets, went onto the sidewalk and crashed into the park.

A total of nine people were hit by the truck, with four being trapped underneath. It wasn’t immediately clear if the three people killed were among those pinned under the vehicle.

A memorial was set up nearby the scene early on Friday.

Corlears Hook park is a public park on the Lower East Side of Manhattan, New York City. 

Bordered by Jackson Street and Cherry Street, the park is popular with locals residents because of its green spaces, playgrounds and fields.

It draws its name from early Dutch settlers in the area, and has been a part of the community for decades.

Monmouth Junction is in South Brunswick Township, New Jersey, about 45 miles southwest of New York City. 

The drive from Monmouth Junction to the Lower East Side of Manhattan, where the crash occurred, typically takes around an hour.
