It's just a folder and the instructions are just to drop it in the mod folder. Even the old beta versions of NMM and Vortex could handle that without breaking anything. Won't installing manually while using Vortex just cause it to not load until you hack Vortex to add it to the load order? Or does it need to not be in managed load lists to work correctly? Wouldn't this mean that it would only work if a managed load list was being used to prevent Witcher 3 from loading it?
For the moment, due to my ignorance and a lack of any explanation on the description, I'm having to choose between avoiding mods that use this library and risking having to completely reinstall the game and start a new save to fix whatever I break by either using or not using a mod manager. I have no idea what using a mod that uses this will do if it's not loaded correctly, and all the description says is 'drop it in the mod folder', ie don't load it. Due to the nature of a function library, I as a non-mod author have no idea what any of the functions in it actually do or don't do, just that some other mod requires it to change draw distances.
It looks like this is a really simple mod with a really simple install that is very actively updated and maintained and wouldn't hurt anything, but if that were the case then I could install it with Vortex or whatever manager by clicking the button. Obviously I can't do that so obviously ... uh maybe there's a reason?
As far as I know there is no technical reason but since I do not use any of the managers I don't know how to prepare such a package. Unfortunately I simply do not have the time to research and prepare this.
About mod order: this is a pure script based mod so the mod order does not matter. Ordering only matters if other resources (e.g. textures) are used which may potentially "overlay" each other.
Why no mod manager install? (3 comments)
is there a possibility for an 4.01 patch?:P
