Update v2.5
  • Fixed wrong file names of acid campaign missions that caught crashes on some difficulty levels. Thanks to the folks reporting that issue!
  • Added difficulty level 10 and 11 to add even more pressure in super late game


Update v2.4
  • Significant tweaks to wave composition and balance. Very strong late game waves now including boss monsters
  • Ambient attacks is now also running on the other campaign missions where you have to build a base. Difficulty will start there with level 3!
  • Added biome specific units for magma, acid and desert
  • The whole map will attack attack you on every difficulty level change once you have hit a certain difficulty level

Update v2.2
  • Time to next difficulty has been increased significantly (roughly twice as long now). In the old version the game got way too difficult way too quickly
  • Wave composition tweaked (More new units added, especially to later waves). Check the Excel in the zip files for changes. Still challenging but thanks to the slower difficulty level increase it's easier than v2.0
  • The whole map will attack you when reaching a certain difficulty level (normal/hard/custom: after 135 min, easy: after 190 min, brutal: after 70 min)


Major update v2.0
  • Crashes have been fixed that occured when switching worlds in the campaign or trying to load a save game
  • Version 2.0 is way more difficult: More enemies, more variation (not just basic enemy types) more waves, more enemy variation (incl. alpha and ultra enemies at later difficulty levels)
  • The Zip fole contains an Excel sheet with an overview about all the waves and their compositions as well as the timers for difficulty increases, max waves and time between waves (broken down by difficulty setting)
  • Difficulty scales with selected settings (easy, normal, hard, brutal)
  • Should now also work with all the survival maps. However, the same enemies spawn (no acid/desert/volcano specific enemies)
  • Hopefully, you enjoy this one as much as I do!


Ambient Attacks
  • Spawns a random number of enemies without warning or map marker at a random time interval (e.g. 10 canoprix every 60-90 seconds at difficulty level 1)
  • First wave comes after 120 seconds
  • Wave strength and spawn interval get more difficult over time
  • Later waves are very tough and will require proper defenses on all sides of your base
  • Applies to the headquarter map of the story campaign as well as all survival maps (but the same enemy types will spawn everywhere)
  • Should not interfere with existing wave logic and story objectives (because it's a standalone script looking at stand-alone wave rules and wave compositions)

How to tweak this mod:
  • Edit the wave composition in the files in this folder: logic\missions\survival
  • Edit the rules like time between attacks, number of attacks, time until next difficulty level in here: lua\missions\campaigns\story\v2\headquarters\ambient_waves_rules.lua (There are individual files per difficulty setting)
