This mod allows you to play as Ellie in every single chapter of the game. I wouldn't say from start to finish however, because there a few minor hiccups. And as a special bonus, buddy Ellie has been replaced with Joel. (There may be more options for buddy replacements in the future)
During testing, I came across 1 or 2 instances where the game will crash.
1. After the Ranch House fight during the FALL section. After clearing the enemies and exiting the house, the game may crash. (This crash was inconsistent. During my second round of testing, this didn't happen)
2. During WINTER, where control is meant to switch from Ellie to Joel. Specifically, after the David boss fight.
There is also an instance during the Bill's Town chapter where Ellie cannot progress. Before the snare trap, you must use a plank to cross a rooftop. However, after leaning the plank against the wall and then climbing up the ladder, Ellie won't be able to pick the plank up. This is because, sadly, the plank is too long and Ellie is too short to make the prompt appear to pick it up. I don't know a way around it other than switching back to Joel via uninstalling the mod, then reinstalling at the next checkpoint.
Left Behind is unplayable with this mod installed. Uninstall the mod if you want to play Left Behind
Ellie also CANNOT CRAFT ITEMS. I don't know why, but Ellie can ONLY craft during WINTER. This is still being looked into.
Ellie may get stuck after 1 or 2 specific cutscenes. (Because swapped characters are misaligned during cutscenes and she clips into the environment) This can be fixed by simply restarting checkpoint.
Skins have NOT been tested. It is recommended to just AVOID using them.
As the game progresses through the seasons, Ellie and Joel will change clothes like they normally do, wearing their respective outfits. Joel, however, will still wear his flannel shirt during the University chapter. This is because Ellie doesn't change outfits between Tommy's Dam and the University, so there was no extra slot to place the outfit in. During the Firefly Lab section at the end, Ellie's outfit is glitched. I haven't been able to fix it yet.
Lastly, I wasn't able to figure out how to get Ellie to spawn with her gun and switchblade. She can still melee and do stealth takedowns as if she still has her switchblade, however. Ellie can also use Joel's weapons, but the Bow and Flamethrower are glitchy. Certain guns will also clip into Ellie in a weird way when not in use.
Joel's 9MM and Revolver have been model swapped to Ellie's handgun, but they still function like their respective weapons.
Certain melee weapons have also been model swapped to Ellie's switchblade, but this didn't have the affect I was hoping for. It's best to just AVOID picking up melee weapons.
INSTALLATION:
1. Copy "PAK68.txt" & the "Bin" Folder into C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\The Last of Us Part I\build\pc\main (or wherever you have the game installed)
(rename your Original "PAK68.txt" to something like "BACKUP.txt" in case you want to revert)
2. Rename "BIN.psarc" to something like "BACKUP.psarc" so the game will read from the "Bin" Folder instead
To Uninstall, just rename the "Bin" folder to something else, and change "BACKUP.psarc" (or whatever you named it to) back to "Bin.psarc" Do the same with "BACKUP.txt" (or whatever you changed your original "Pak68.txt" to) and change it back to "Pak68.txt"
