Hidden Cars: The Full Vehicle Delivery Roster
This mod adds many previously inaccessible vehicles to Ray's Vehicle Delivery roster. While some of these are event-exclusive, many of these are colour variants of pre-existing vehicles used in the Lifeline DLC or exist in the files and have not been properly enabled.

These are not custom vehicles.

Some examples include:
  • The Danforth Police Car
  • The Classic Muscle Car and several variants
  • The generic variant of the Sedan platform, which is used by the Taxi
  • Event-exclusive cars like the Piggy Truck and Qwik-Clean
  • The Prepper SUV
  • Extra variants of most common vehicles
  • More to discover

Naming Generalization Fix
The secondary function of this mod is to fix the naming conventions used for vehicles. Specifically, this alters the text that appears when hovering over vehicles on the map or when viewed in menus.

Some later additions to the Year One re-release vehicle roster use odd naming conventions that are inconsistent with the original names. Cars with alternate textures but identical stats aren't given a generic name but super-specific or misleading ones.

This mod simplifies every vehicle display name to their consistent original naming conventions so cars can be easily identified for their vehicle type instead of texture. SUV Blue (and variant SUVs with different textures) are all labelled "SUV." Modern Sedans with paint jobs have all returned to the name of Modern Sedan. While this is faithful to the launch and development of State of Decay, I have added alternative files for those of you who prefer the current names.

DOWNLOADING THE MOD

There are currently four versions of this mod available:

  • Hidden Cars for Vehicle Delivery and Naming Fix: Naming Fix + New Vehicle Delivery weighted towards exclusive/previously inaccessible vehicles (recommended - best for players looking to access the unique content more often than not)
  • Hidden Cars for Vehicle Delivery and No Naming Fix: New Vehicle Delivery weighted towards exclusive/previously inaccessible vehicles (the vehicle names are left unchanged)
  • All Cars for Vehicle Delivery and Naming Fix: Naming Fix + All Vehicles Available (utilizes the vanilla distribution, so you will likely get vehicles already available to you in the base game map)
  • All Cars for Vehicle Delivery and No Naming Fix: All Vehicles Available (Vehicle names are unchanged and utilizes the vanilla distribution, so it is equally likely that you will get vehicles already available to you in the base game map)

Use only one version!

The balance in this mod may be adjusted and revised over time to help keep the delivery rolls random and fair. This is my first published mod, and there are bound to be opportunities for me to learn from.

This mod will conflict with any other mod that uses vehicles.win.bmd.
Your best bet is to choose one, or do some modding of your own to merge your vehicle XML files before converting them.

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

The install should be pretty simple. Paste the directory into the State of Decay YOSE file; the rest should easily assimilate themselves. A few other files are included to replace bugged files that incorrectly called the wrong vehicles. The pathways to the relevant XML files are as follows:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\State of Decay YOSE\Game\libs\class3\contentmanager
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\State of Decay YOSE\Game\libs\class3.1\contentmanager
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\State of Decay YOSE\Game\libs\class3.2\contentmanager

This change is exclusively for the base game and breakdown, as Lifeline's vehicle delivery is balanced differently to grant you military-exclusive vehicles. If you wish to change Lifeline's delivery anyway, it is a matter of copying the vehicles.win.bmd and vehicles.XML file from the directory into the Game>libs>class3.2 >contentmanager folder.

Known issues:
  • The Hippie Hatchback does not have a unique paintjob. I have left it in because it still has unique flavour text, in case you wish to use it.
  • "I keep getting X vehicle more often than not." The roll-weight table seems to be unpredictable and manipulated by other variables outside of the scope of this mod. I find starting a new game after the installation helps keep it random.
  • As an overarching problem with YOSE/expansion vehicles in State of Decay, there are minor oddities with many vehicles due to texture problems. These are mostly limited to odd taillight tints, interior colours, and contrast issues in general. Nothing that affects the playability, however. Everything works correctly.

To-do: (April 23, 2023)
-After extensive testing of the output, I am satisfied with the current balance. There are more variants in the files. However, they require a lot of creative liberty to implement correctly, which is not in the spirit of this mod.
-Make a full list of every vehicle and variant
-Investigate a few cut-content leftovers
-Update this mod
-Release my other mods
