About this mod

This mod slightly adjusts the default job ranks of crew members, such that more of them can level up to Master rank.

As you probably know, crew members no longer get further job ranks if they already have 4+ of them.

This means that a novice(1) cannoneer can at some point become master(4) cannoneer.
But a novice(1) cannoneer / novice(1) surgeon can't; he will get stuck at novice(3) cannoneer / novice(1) surgeon, since he has achieved a cap of (4) total.
Because of that, many crew members are kind of a trap option in case you want to level all your crew to Master rank.


To circumvent that, this mod alters some traits and ranks, so more crew members can eventually achieve the Master rank. Specifically:
  • Chitupek: novice deckhand, novice cannoneer -> unexperienced (although starts with 0 in all traits, he can achieve Master rank in any one trait)
  • Persanale Cianca: seasoned cannoneer, novice surgeon -> seasoned surgeon
  • Aledh: novice cannoneer, novice cook -> novice cannoneer
  • Shieldsister Daelia: novice deckhand, novice surgeon -> novice deckhand
  • Ralla Blackblossom: seasoned boatswain, seasoned cannoneer -> seasoned boatswain
  • Handsome Eliam: novice helmsman, novice cook -> unexperienced (although starts with 0 in all traits, he can achieve Master rank in any one trait)
  • Winking Audr: expert navigator, novice deckhand -> expert navigator

Also there are few more miscellaneous changes:
  • Baltia: seasoned cannoneer -> expert cannoneer (we usually find her later in the game, and her seasoned rank lags behind)
  • Big Mouth: wilder -> wilder and enigmatic (this potentially fixes the issue where he doesn't participate in scripted events)
  • Disciple Iztla: seasoned deckhand -> expert deckhand (she is missing in vanilla game; but can join your crew if you have "Navy of Deadfire" mod and board capture "The Heaving Harlot" ship)
  • Drunkards should consume more water/alcohol on ship. In vanilla only Oswald was drinking 2 ratios per day. Now other drunkards (Engrim, Giani, Luca, Riggere, Rukowa, Scylla and Tylla) will drink 1 -> 2 ratios too.

Note:
  • the changes above only affect crew members that you haven't hired yet

Updates:
v1.0.1:
  • Fixed Baltia's CrewTraitID. It was missing two digits and it was preventing her change from loading and being applied

Installation:
  • as usual: download archive
  • unzip into /override folder, so it goes like this: <Pillars of Eternity II game folder>\PillarsOfEternityII_Data\override\CrewOfDeadfire\manifest.json

Uninstall:
  • remove CrewOfDeadfire folder from /override
