Changelogs
Version 2.6
Addressed miguick and Nehred's concerns about the inconsistent script syntax.
Version 2.5
Mod now calls RefreshItemsList to ensure changes take place.
Version 2.2
Fixed error in GetType check.
Version 2.0
Added item blacklist so items intended to be quest items can't accidently be dropped.
Added additional sanity checks to ensure that only weapons and armors will be unmarked as quest items. This will prevent you from accidentally dropping misc quest items.
This mod is a solution to a problem I've had in more than a few playthroughs where certain NPCs would have a unique item, but I would forget to get the item before the NPC despawned. Once this happens, you can no longer get the item. This mod fixes it by setting every unique item in the KEYWORDS list (linked in requirements dropdown) as a quest item at launch time. Now NPCs with unique items in the list will no longer despawn until the item is removed from their inventory. When you open the Pip-Boy, the quest item flag will be removed, and you can drop or store your items like normal.
This mod has no permanent effects on the game and can be uninstalled at any time.
A couple things to keep in mind about this mod:
- This mod is not a foolproof catch all. Unique items from other mods may not be marked as a quest item. It depends on if they are in the unique items list. - Some items which are meant to be quest items might be unmarked. If this happens, please let me know and I will create an item blacklist. There are a lot of items in the game and unintended edge cases can happen. Make sure to take care not to randomly drop items that may be lost otherwise.
