IF YOU'RE USING UNCUT WASTELAND OR A MOD LIKE THAT, JUST MAKE SURE TO INSTALL THIS MOD AFTER UNCUT WASTELAND.

THIS MOD SHOULD NOT BE "CLEANED" - ANY RECORD IN THE MOD, EVEN IF IT'S UNCHANGED AND GREEN IN FNVEDIT, IS MEANT TO BE THAT WAY FOR A REASON.



Why this mod was made:

  • Originally there are supposed to be 3 children chasing the rat in Freeside, but the devs disabled 2 of them.
  • The children originally ate the rat even if it was turned into ash or plasma.
  • There are no conditions to upset these children, the only option is to kill the rat and they will eat it regardless.


What this mod does:

  • Restores the 2 disabled children.
  • If YOU kill the rat: the children will thank you or get mad at you depending on how you killed it. You will also gain or lose Freeside Reputation.
  • If the rat is dead, but NOT disintegrated: the children will eat it.
  • If the rat IS disintegrated (turned into ash or goo): the children will not eat it.
  • If the kid leader is dead (for some reason): he won't be able to thank you for killing the rat and you won't gain Freeside Rep.
  • If ALL 3 children are dead (for some reason): your Rep will NOT be affected if you disintegrate the rat.

There's 3 versions only USE ONE esp. Install with fomod or manually. If manual you must install sound folder and one esp of your choice.


Notes:

  • Should be compatible with everything just make sure this is loaded after anything conflicting.

  • The 2nd male child and female child did not have unique dialogue for this encounter, they used the "Thanks, Mister!" voice file from the 1st male child. I was too lazy to find matching positive and negative voice lines for each kid, so I made the leader of the bunch the only one to have a response regarding the rat.

  • If you use a killable children mod: the children aren't really programmed for this.
  • If you kill the 2 children that follow, the leader will still chase the rat as normal after likely running away from you first.
  • If you kill the leader, the other 2 children will not be able to chase the rat, and may simply run away or stand there. They may glitch out.
  • These children are prone to glitches for some reason, and it could be part of the reason why the devs removed them from the game. I will be doing further testing. I have a video on my YouTube channel showcasing an odd visual glitch I encountered.
