About this mod

This is a brand-new overhaul that adds in a magazine system to self-loading/'magazine-fed' ballistic weapons. Essentially, if a weapon of this type does not have a magazine equipped it will not fire. This mod is geared towards players who like to play on hardcore.

Introduction:

This is a new overhaul for most ballistic weapons as well as some explosive weapons that adds in many new magazines for self-loading 'magazine fed' weapons. Keep in mind that it is Strongly Recommended to start a new game with this mod as you will not be able to fire any of your existing weapons within a later save. However, you can install this mid-playthrough as long as you're willing to go through the hassle of finding all the magazines needed for your current weapons. The number of magazines there are 58 magazine types (239 if you include all ammo types) at your disposable with varying values and sizes and other circumstances.

Note: This mod I made blends PERFECTLY with this mod: Realistic Ballistic Overhaul at Fallout New Vegas - mods and community (nexusmods.com)
so please consider checking it out!
Features Description
  • All Magazines have a 'Health Bar' where it drains upon fire of the weapon equipped by the Player.
  • Once these health bars reach 0 the magazine is considered 'empty' where the player may no longer fire anymore.
  • This does not work on NPCs, making it do so will be incredibly difficult.
  • There are ways of loading your magazine, if you press the "L" key a menu key will pop up with all the different ammo types you can load your magazine with. (Keep in mind, that not all of these options will necessary be available, as not all weapons use the same ammo type range!)
  • Once the magazine is loaded it will be dropped, this adds to the challenge since these magazines can be use indefinitely.
  • The system works quite nicely with mods such as Just Mods Assorted's  Weapon Wheel feature as well as the vanilla hotkey system.
  • In addition to the weapon having weight (and the ammo having weight in hardcore mode), the magazines also have weight (varying from 0.1 pounds to as much as 3.25 pounds!). This weight is also based on the magazine's counterpart's real-life weight!
  • When a vanilla weapon is picked up (such as a 9mm pistol) and fired that weapon is instantly replaced with a "Player" variant due to the way the magazine system works, don't worry you won't lose any ammo on that first shot!
                                                                                                                        World Implementation:
  • The overhaul is implemented into the vanilla game including its DLCs as much as possible to make the magazines readily accessible at all stages of the game.
  • Magazines are often founded with placed weapons in cell.
  • Different tiers of the magazines are placed across different levels of the world, with really difficult places such as Vault 34 having higher tier magazines.
  • This also includes a highly detailed leveled list system with many different tiers at different stages of the game.
  • Vendors all have magazines fully included in their tier system, these magazines are instead 'packaged' variants and are bought as misc items to ensure that they are at their full value since they are bought empty.
  • All NPCs will have magazines on their inventory that scale with your level, the higher level you are the more likely an NPC will have a higher tier magazine.
  • To counter the inability to get NPCs to get the magazine system to work with them, there are new, 'NPC only' variants of specific weapons that have more than one magazine type, these are identical in terms of features of the vanilla weapons and will be removed upon fire of the player.

                                                                                                                               Notes:
Keep in mind that this mod is heavily scripted, most script extensions including Johnny Guitar, XNVSE, JIP,  and SUP NVSE are ALL required for this mod.
Weapon mods such as extended mags, laser sights etc will not graphically change anything due to the models being overridden through scripting, just something to keep in mind when using weapon mods.
I will not disclose any of the magazines in this description because I think it will be more interesting for you to discover the magazines yourself!
A special thanks to Falcatox and thedrofpeppers for being incredibly nice and skilled at modeling the new magazines found in this mod!

If you wish to become one of my testers, or just have a more direct way to communicate with me, I will be hosting a discussion section from the Discord Server "Fallout The Odyssey" feel free to check out the info on that mod too!
