I have played DUST as Brotherhood Outcast and I went with a full energy weapons + science build. The idea was to try to survive with just energy weapons. Most energy weapons are extremely strong in DUST but the lack of ammo would be a problem. I said would be because there is a Workbench recipe that allows you to convert 5 drained energy cells + 1 fission battery into 25 energy cells making fission batteries the most important item for this build. The problem is that fission batteries weight 6 lb each, which is already a lot, and that energy weapons and ammo weight quite a bit. I can't tell you how many times I was outweighed just to be able to bring fission batteries to the nearby Workbench so that I could convert it into useful and rare ammo.
While the game is perfectly playable even if you are often overweight, this started to be annoying. So I decided to make this mod that adds Energy Ammo recipes to the Crafting Kit, i.e. the Portable Workbench, introduced by DUST. The rationale is that if you can use the Workbench to fill drained ammo then with a bit more skills you can use the crafting kit too.
I set to rules for those recipes to avoid making them overpowered:
The Crafting Kit recipes require 20 higher science skills than the original Workbench counterparts. This reflect the fact that working with a Crafting Kit on the go is much harder but doable for skilled characters.
To keep things even more balanced, I made the recipes that convert 4 (or 3 with Vigilant Recycler) drained energy ammo into 1 ever harder, requiring a lot of science. This is because drained ammo have no weight so it would be too easy to bring a lot of drained ammo and convert them on the go when needed instantly. It is still possible because a skilled character should be able to do so.
With this changes the game become much more enjoyable for me and I hope it will be for you too.
