About this mod

Re-enable GRA ammunition in Fallout: DUST

Requirements
Permissions and credits
Changelogs
The current version of this mod is 1.0.

The problem

Fallout: DUST renders some munitions from the Gun Runners' Arsenal DLC unusable. Whether or not that is by accident or by intention: I ended up converting a lot of precious ammunition into Hand Loaded rounds, only to find, that I couldn't load them into any weapon I tried.

This can be easily fixed by using FNVEdit, but after I had to that for the umpteenth time (yes, I play DUST a lot, lately), I decided on creating a small mod to do the job.

This solution
This small mod aims re-enable the use of all GRA munitions, craftable or not, in DUST for people not wanting to use FNVEdit to correct this behaviour.

Affected GRA Hand Load ammunition:
  • 20 Gauge. 3/0 Buck Mag. (Hand Loader) (GRA)
  • 12 Gauge, 4/0 Buck Mag. (Hand Loader) (GRA)
  • 9mm, JHP (Hand Load) (GRA)
  • 5.56mm, Match (Hand Load) (GRA)
  • 5mm, JSP (Hand Load) (GRA)
  • 12.7mm Round (Hand Load) (GRA)
Affected GRA non-Hand Load ammunition:
  • 20 Gauge, Pulse Slug (GRA)
  • 20 Gauge, 3/0 Buck (GRA)
  • 12 Gauge, Pulse Slug (GRA)
  • 12 Gauge, Flechete (GRA)
  • 12 Gauge, Dragon's Breath (GRA)
  • 12 Gauge, 4/0 Buck (GRA)

Requirements
  • NVSE, latest version. Sadly, this mod requires NVSE, since otherwise an engine bug can trigger an infinite loading screen.
  • Fallout DUST and all of its requirements.

Installation
Copy KaPDUSTGRAAmmoFix.esp into your Fallout:New Vegas data folder, have it loaded after DUST.

Deinstallation
Remove KaPDUSTGRAAmmoFix.esp from your Fallout: New Vegas data folder. This will just revert DUST back to its default behaviour.

Incompatibilities
Since this mod dynamically adds the missing ammo types to the respective lists, I'd guess it's incompatible with anything that completely removes these lists or any of the ammo types I'm trying to add. But mods doing that would probably be incompatible with DUST (and most anything else), anyway.

Known Issues
  • Weapons loaded with GRA rounds will revert to having non-GRA rounds loaded upon restarting the game. Sorry, that's in the nature of fiddling with the ammo lists at runtime, instead of using FNVEdit.
