About this mod

Limits the availability of Fast Travel by the markers you're pointing at, and your proximity to other appropriate markers.
Otherwise, normal limitations apply.

Have you ever felt that Fast Travel is overpowered, but don't want to completely remove or replace it?
Do you want to use the vanilla Fast Travel system, but don't want to just tack on more and more restrictions?
Well, you've come to the right place.
Introducing...

Limited Map Markers!
This mod will only allow you to travel between settlements (Towns, civilizations, whatever you want to call them), not to or from, just from one to the other.
You must be within a town's radius to travel to another.

Base:
There are two perks that come with this mod: Trade Routes, and Backtracker.
  • Trade Routes allows you to travel between settlements
  • Backtracker has three ranks, and re-enables travel to and from all markers, but has a time limit
Without either of these perks (Or an appropriate More Perks perk, with the More Perks patch), you won't be able to fast travel at all.
This encourages you to do more exploring early on in the game, while allowing you to get between familiar places quickly, using your memory and such.
Backtracker allows you to travel to any unlocked marker on the map, once every three days.
The three day limit can be shortened down to 1 day, by taking more ranks in the perk.

TTW Patch:
This includes the Fallout 3 settlements, such as Megaton, Canterbury Commons, Paradise Falls, etc.
It also allows you to travel for free to Dogmeat's 'Mark Territory' map marker, making it more useful than normal.

(Currently Unsupported) More Perks TTW Patch:
This adds support for a couple of perks found here, namely Leaving Trails and Vacation in Maryland.
  • For the former, you can freely travel to all your left markers, with no cost.
  • For Vacation in Maryland, it changes the perk from automatically unlocking the markers, to just revealing them on your map, and makes the 'Trade Routes' perk a requirement. It also allows travel between the settlements it reveals, as it should. This does make me think we could have a whole host of perks for each worldspace (Maybe you can travel between the towers in Zion?), but that's off-topic.
For this, I strongly recommend the patch I posted to fix Leaving Trails on the TTW Forums, since it appears to be broken in Deadboy's otherwise dang-good version.

Compatibility:
It should work with everything that changes the restrictions to fast travel, such as the vanilla perk that allows you to do so while over-encumbered.
This just enables or disables travel depending on what marker you point at and where you are in the world.
There might be strange issues with mods that move vanilla settlements a significant distance from their original location, but I haven't encountered any mods doing that.
Oh, this won't work for any new settlements, there will need to be patches for them. I could possibly create a system that allows you to manually identify new settlements in-game, but that would be a decent bit of work for little gain.
Both of these are near-moot issues with version 2.0. So long as the map marker is moved with the settlement, it should still work.
Also, making things compatible is now as simple as adding the map marker ref to a formlist!
