Welcome to Gravemind - Banished.

This mod drops the Master Chief right into the middle of the Banished invasion of High Charity, and the Elites and Brutes in the Covenant must scramble to defend their city from tenacious Banished invaders. Led by Atriox, the Banished are a faction of Brutes that were banished from the Covenant and forced to live as exiles - this mod aims to illustrate what might have happened if the Banished decided to attack High Charity at the critical moment just before the Great Schism broke out.

Donning red armour and using specially-made red versions of the Covenant Plasma Rifle, Banished troops have been inserted into some of High Charity's most prominent areas and the resident Covenant forces will quickly find themselves overwhelmed with heretics. Throughout the level the two factions will wrestle for control of the entirety of High Charity, the infighting begins almost as soon as you leave the Council Chamber. There are also unconfirmed reports of the Silent Shadow, a force of Elite Assassins who had previously shown distaste for the Brutes, have been somehow swayed to join the ranks of the Banished that are now operating somewhere near the Mausoleum.

For those who want to experience the mission in a more original form, the Schism Edition retains many of the aspects that the original level had, including the standard Covenant schism. However, there are a few surprises along the way. 

For those who love Elites, the Swords of Sanghelios Edition adds allied Elites to the prison section of the mission, and all subsequent Elites in the mission are now allied with the player. 

And finally, the Chaos Edition exists for those who want a strange journey. This mode will be constantly updated over time and as Chaos Editions for my earlier mods emerge.

v1.1 UPDATE - fixed a small bug that caused more Banished Grunts to spawn as Ultras on higher difficulties than originally intended. Most Banished Grunts are now Majors. Also adds Classic graphics recolourations to Banished soldiers (Brute Captains and Grunt Majors) and makes the vast majority of Banished Brutes ranked as Captains.

List of Changes

- Altered Elite armor colourations in Classic graphics to make their armor stand out more
- Added more Heavy and Ultra Grunts to the Covenant
- Added more allied Marines to the prison
- Added more enemy AI battles, increased the number of enemies fighting and refreshed enemy combat encounters
- Reactivated dual-wielding for Elites, and diversified enemy weapon spawns throughout the mission

Installation Instructions


- Installing this mod is simple. Navigate to the root folder for Halo: The Master Chief Collection - usually in Program Files > Steam > steamapps > common, and go to the folder called 'halo 2'
- From there, open the folder called h2_maps_win64_dx11 - this contains all of the map files for Halo 2
- Next, BACK UP THESE FILES if you haven't already, just in case
- Then simply move the highcharity.map file that is this mod to replace the one in the maps file, and play Halo: MCC with Anti-Cheat disabled
- Now boot up the mission Gravemind on the difficulty of your choice, using whichever Skull modifiers you like.
