Welcome to Sacred Icon Expanded! This mod makes some huge changes to specific areas of the mission Sacred Icon to add more Covenant allies including allied Brutes, increases the number of allies you receive and also adds enemy Marines to the mission. The allied Brutes are few in number, with more appearing on higher difficulties, and one can spawn as a Captain when the Thunderstorm Skull is enabled. The Brute AI is fully functional, including enraged mode, but the Brutes themselves do not speak or make a sound - possibly do to their distrust of the Arbiter. This makes for some funny moments where a Grunt will cheerfully ask an allied Brute a question, only to be met with a cold, silent stare in rebuke. As callous as any true Brute.
The Marines are also perfectly functional, and on higher difficulties they actually prove quite a challenge. They are capable of melee as well as working as a squad to overpower an opponent, something the player never really gets to appreciate in regular gameplay as they are only ever used as cannon fodder allies. In the standard edition of this mod, allied Brutes and enemy Marines are rare, making encounters with them exciting.
However, there are also alternate versions of this mod: - The 'Elite Edition' replaces all allied Brutes with Spec Ops Elites for those who want more Sangheili action. This version of the mod adds an insane Brute pack deep within the Sentinel Wall, who attacks Sentinels, Humans, Flood and fellow Covenant alike. - The 'Marine Edition' adds allied Marines to the level and also adds enemy Brutes into the Sentinel Wall, with allied Marines to fight them. - The 'Brute Buddies' Edition adds more allied Brutes into the Sentinel Wall and guarantees more allied Brute spawns for those who love to fight alongside them.
List of Changes
- Allied Covenant lances are now larger - Covenant allies now have more health and Jackal shields are stronger - Some Jackal allies will be blue-shielded Minors - Added allied Brutes - Minors and Majors, with a Captain accessible via Thunderstorm Skull - Added allied Jackal Marksmen wielding Carbines - Added Enemy Marine squads who are allied with the Sentinels
