About this mod

Perk Modules from True Damage use the SPECIAL and Level requirements from True Perks.

UPDATED FOR TRUE PERKS VERSION 9.4

the patch for version 8.5 is still available under Old Files.

True Damage is phenomenal. SCOURGE is phenomenal. If you're using both together, the perk modules from True Damage are basically a necessity so the perks don't let a dinky, unmodded pipe pistol nearly one-shot everything.

That may or may not be hyperbole, but it illustrates the point well enough.

Unfortunately, a conflict arises if you also happen to be using True Perks. True Perks alters (nearly?) every vanilla perk. True Damage also alters vanilla perks in order to remove any increased damage effects. They overwrite each other which ends up breaking the Vanilla Perk chart in various ways depending on load order. They will never play nicely together on their own.

This patch fixes that. If you're still using the vanilla Perk Chart, it *should* retain the layout from True Perks. If it doesn't, I probably screwed up.

I'm using version 8.5 of True Perks, so if any of the perks that True Damage alters are arranged differently in 8.5 than they are in whatever version you happen to be using, updating True Perks should fix the issue.

====== RECOMMNEDED MODS =====

LevelUpMenuEx (requires F4SE) - replaces the vanilla Perk Chart with a menu similar to previous games. At a bare minimum, this will delete the headache of breaking the vanilla perk chart. The worst perk-related conflict is probably duplicate entries.

  • load after True Perks to let its interface file, LevelUpMenu.swf, overwrite the one from True Perks

  • alternatively, you can delete/hide LevelUpMenu.swf file from True Perks' interface folder if you perfer
this option would allow for more granular control over how your load order is organized
(i.e. keeping everything alphabetized within separate categories)

Be Exceptional (requires LevelUpMenuEx) - utilizes LevelUpMenuEx to add Skills, Tagged skills and Traits to the game which are derived from your SPECIAL stats, just like in previous games. also tweaks a few vanilla perks.

  • Humble Perks Pack (requires Be Exceptional) -- as the name suggest, this adds a bunch more perks to the game.

VAFS Redux (requires F4SE) replaces VATS with a triggerable bullet-time "Focus" mechanic similar to taking Jet.

  • HUDFramework and MCM are listed as requirements, but they are both technically optional. HUDFramework = Critical Meter. MCM = MCMing (duh).

You Are SPECIAL (requires LevelUpMenu) - Does the something largely similar to Be Exceptional. Skills, Tagged skills, Traits, etc.

  • Be Exceptional is not mutually exclusive, but the perks list (and likely traits and skills as well) will be a bit of a fuster cluck.

** Perks Overhaul **

This is a glorious monstrosity of goodness. It's a fully modular set of patches to make all of the above work together nicely without any jumbled perk/skill/trait shenanigans. also includes optional, modular patches for Combined ArmsDamn Apocalypse, Start Me Up as well as a few others.

"Wait, where does True Perks fit in to that setup?"
It doesn't...

but i'm in the process of making a patch for it. it's still too much of a WIP to upload because i'm a bit of a prefectionist.
It's part of my personal setup, so it WILL happen. eventually.
