Dwarfs really need more hair options.
I think I know what you mean about the normals, the black spots always appear at the same spot no matter how many times you try the import and export routine. Normally, covering the problem spots with another hair strand should help. Maybe you can try this,
Select "Element", pull out the problem strand. Then click "Vertex" and select all the vertices. Scale down the vertices to zero. It will just look like a tiny dot once you're done. Hide this little "dot" within the hair mesh. Then just export and preview in the modding tool to check.

I was hoping to be able to whip up some hairs decent enough to share with the community, but I'm not very confident in these first few attempts, so I really appreciate your input!
Sometimes I think I should learn to mod. Then I remember that computers scare the absolute bejesus out of me and I come to my senses.
