♣   Please note that unless something needs fixing, I won't be taking requests.  ♣

WORK IN PROGRESS - some hairstyles (especially new ones) will show up as bald for some races. This is completely normal and not a bug. Fully updating everything is going to take a while, please be patient.

A couple of additional (mostly female) hairstyles made using mostly vanilla assets, plus two optional hairstyles for Shadowheart. Body type 1 only. More might follow (including conversions), so keep an eye out for updates if you're interested!

Low bun

Now for females of all playable races, except half-orcs.

Low ponytail

For females of all playable races, except half-orcs and dwarves.

Frankenharpy

For females of all tall playable races, except half-orcs.

Mintharpy

For females of all tall playable races, except half-orcs.

Shadowbun

For female humans, tieflings, elves and half-elves.

Long waves

Now for females of all playable races, except half-orcs.
Thanks Eudoxia for the idea and feedback!
(Some of the vanilla weights were seriously dodgy, so I had to redo them from scratch. They're not perfect but I tried my best!)

Twin braided buns

For female humans, tieflings, elves and half-elves.
Inspired by Anora's and Calpernia's hairstyles from the Dragon Age series.

Twin braided buns 2

For female humans, tieflings, elves, half-elves and gnomes.

Messy bun

For females of all tall playable races, except half-orcs.

Swamp Bun (aka Morrigan-inspired do) (formerly Messy Bun 2)

For females of all playable races, except half-orcs.

Bun & braids

For female gith, humans, tieflings, elves, half-elves and gnomes.

Side braids

A restoration of the "female orc" hairstyle (with some minor tweaks) for females of all tall playable races and gnomes.
The original mesh had no weights and was an absolute nightmare to skin. It's not perfect, but I tried my best to prevent the hair from clipping through the neck and shoulders (note that "extreme" animations will cause the hair to clip through the left shoulder).

(I know this hair is in the game now, I just kept it because I'm planning to add a custom scalp texture.)

Bettie Bangs

Four hairstyles with Bettie-ish bangs for females of all playable races.

  • a bob;
  • two shoulder-length hairstyles;
  • a ponytail (it's alive! Except for dwarves and halflings, who are punished until Larian gives them access to hair physics I add physics).

I've also added an optional file that replaces Shadowheart's default braid with the loose shoulder-length style. It should work without the main file.

Tweaked Gith Ponytail

A slightly tweaked version of the gith ponytail with added physics, also available for humans, tieflings, elves and half-elves.

Note that I smoothed out the ponytail by adding a subdivision level, so the modded mesh has a higher polycount (51,475 tris vs 34,564).

Vanilla ponytail A

Restored low ponytail with physics (which were missing from the latest EA patches). Still available for female gnomes and halflings because it looks different enough from the vanilla version.

[REMOVED] Vanilla ponytail B

Restored high ponytail with physics. For females of all tall playable races.

Alternative Braid for Shadowheart

Replaces her default hairstyle.

This is very much a work in progress, so this list isn't exhaustive. I've added a couple of additional hairstyles I haven't finished converting yet.

Requirements

  • BG3 Mod Fixer. Without this, there's a good chance the character creator won't open properly and you'll get stuck in the CC area with a bunch of dummies. You don't need to enable it with your mod manager, just drop the .pak file into your mods folder.

Installation

I recommend using LaughingLeader's BG3 Mod Manager.* Make sure you're using the latest version! To install a hair mod:

  • Open the .zip file and drop the .pak file into your Mods folder (mine is now located in C:\Users\myname\AppData\Local\Larian Studios\Baldur's Gate 3\Mods).
  • Launch BG3 Mod Manager and make sure the Public profile is selected. Drag my file from your "Inactive mods" list (on the right) onto your "Active mods" list (on the left).
  • Click File > Export Order to Game.
  • To uninstall, drag the file back onto your "Inactive mods" list and save the load order again. You can then delete the .pak file from your Mods folder if you don't want to clutter up your drive. (Your character's hair should revert to a vanilla model if you uninstall the mod mid-playthrough.)

* I only use this one, so I can't guarantee other mod managers like Vortex or Candor (which I think is outdated anyway) will work.

Tools used, credits and thanks

  • Made with Blender, GIMP, Notepad++ and Norbyte's tools.
  • Original assets by Larian (I only made the gith braids, the glasses and some loose strands for the Morrigan bun).
  • Thanks to Padme4000 for sharing her modding resources!
