A personal mod of the great mod Thera: TW
This started by adding a few extra unit but it soon became an ongoing overhaul juggernaut.
I've made huge changes across the board but retained the core.
(If you're wondering what THERA is, its a fantasy war mod waged across multiple continents on a vast map involving a ton of interesting Factions. ''Redux'' is my version of that great mod)
THERA:REDUX has:
Romans, Knights, Pirates, Orcs, Vikings, Reptiles, Samurai, Pike and Shot, Gunpowder, Monsters and moarrrr!
EDIT: A LOT more additional content/features/fixes/tweaks since this was originally posted.
Change logs available in the file posts.
Newest version is THERA: REDUX (Full Release 3)
Tons of new and revamped units from a variety of great mods
All factions revamped to some degree.
Better combat animations (more effective spearmen, no awkward slow shield swing from swordsmen etc)
Better gunpowder unit animation, no double reload glitch (so more effective gun troops)
More emphasised factional strengths and weaknesses
Regional/factional specific mercenary units recruitable in small numbers in many areas
AI more likely to make armies built around their core troops
Changes to unit stats across the board (also taking battle model appearance into account for armour stats etc)
New loading pics, New general bodyguards for some factions, Stronger alliances, More interesting and tougher mini-faction (regional 'rebel') armies, better AI, new powerful 'monstrous' units and much, much more.
Enjoy
P.S
I used a few models from BOTET, Third Age, De Bello Mundi, For King or Country, Battle for the Baltic submod and some others, as well as several defunct/unfinished mods (war of the west, especially), unit packs (Western Unit Overhaul) to update Theras battle models, as well a few personally modded models. I give full credit to their incredible work without which this would not have been possible.
Cheers, give the mod a vote!!!

Is there any way to change so Uruks have normal arrows instead of "your entire ******* army dies" rockets? I feel like Dominion is already strong as is with so much 2 HP units lol
just spam cannons
Hey there man, I just wanted to say I really enjoy your mod! It's absolutely my favourite M2 mod out there, a wonderful fantasy world that is super fun to play with, also love how every faction is quite unique and well developed
Although the Nazi references in the German factions might've been a little bit overkill, having a General named von Rundstedt was funny, having a General named Michael Wittman might be a little bit worrying
Still absolutely wonderful mod
i play outside your recommended unit size settings i play on huge no issues so far exept i cant recruit mercenaries. does this have to do with mercenaries having a hard coded unit size? why do you think this would happen? when i play the rome saves that i assume you tested on the mercenaries work fine
There are no mercs at start, they begin to appear for recruitment after a number of turns. Some are very rare
Hi, is it possible to add new cities/towns/factions into this great mod at a later stage?
Cities? Probably not, unfortunately; I'm given to understand that Medieval 2: Total War requires the map to be hardcoded into the game and has a fixed number of slots for cities and castles.
Factions might be possible, but really, the map is kind of crowded as is imo.
