Hey here is an update from Battlefront 3.net
"I know, I know.. finally a post right? Sorry folks, but there hasn’t been a drop of anything to really post about lately. I was thinking about adding in some general Star Wars news or general Star Wars gaming news, what would everyone think about that?
Thanks to ‘persiana’ (from the LucasArts forums) for the heads up, some new information regarding Crytek UK (formally Free Radical) has surfaced. Apparently, they will be announcing something big com this years E3, which will take place June 7-9, 2011 at the Los Angeles Convention Center.
I am presuming this will most like be Timesplitters 4 but one never knows! According to vg247.com:
Speaking to Develop, Yerli said it had “ambitious plans” for the TimeSplitter developer that was once known as Free Radical.
“I think at E3 this year – or just after – we are going to make a big announcement that I think people will be happy about,” he said.
“They were very pleased with their contribution to Crysis 2 [Note: Crytek UK made the multiplayer component - JC], and we have very ambitious plans for Crytek UK. The studio is now up to 85 people, with nice new offices. The main thing is that the team are having a lot of fun – that’s the most important thing to us.”
Yerli added the “UK scene” would be “very pleased” with what Crytek UK was working on.
Crytek UK has said in the past it’ll start work on either a new IP or TimeSplitters 4, a project the studio worked on previously as Free Radical.
It could very well be Battlefront 3 as Free Radical was working on both Battlefront 3 and Timesplitters 4 before they shut down."
lets just hope that it is..
So what does this mean then?
That they might announce the game?
hmm good news
it's a start
been waiting long enough
everyone has
I feel that the question of why aren't theey making the game is already answered. They obviously are. Why would a corporation invest all of this time and effort into making the game and then give up??? It wouldn't make sense...
I say if Battlefront 3 did come out one of the features in question would be, if ground to space battles are important wouldn’t everyone want to take out all the enemies in space first? That way the capital ships are free to commit selective orbital bombardment on ground targets (depends on the games mechanics and how destructible the buildings and bunkers are for it to effective). That being said in order for players to see the importance of the ground, I would bet the developers would make ground to space weapons platforms and planetary shields that you have to destroy in order to gain control. This way both space and ground fronts of war jeopardize each other and the mission if either is not taken seriously enough. That will make things more fair. However a player can still roam in a starfigther attacking both key ground and space targets. But I guess AAA laser guns and enemy fighters are the key to solving anyone who goes fighter/bomber happy. Not to mention the troops on the ground ready to fire with their homing rockets and assault rifles and the point defencescannons/ anti- starfigther systems on the capital ships. Overall I hope whenever this game is releases or when LucasArts decides to start making it/redo it whatever process they are in right now) that it will offer themost dynamic gameplay we the fans have long been waiting for.
I say Heartofgold, you bring up a lot of good points. i agree with everything you said.
Just to vent a little. I'm very disappointed that Lucas has gone so far into the little kids market that this game hasn't be developed and released yet. Sure I know that the first 2 designers went bankrupt, but Lucas knew the Battlefront series was a gold mine, yet nothing has come out of it since Battlefront II. But there are a lot of Star Wars Lego games and StarWars.com games coming out for little kids. Why? I not sure...
You are truly correct MTGraves about it being a goldmine, I personally don't remember any game that appealed to so many audiences then battlefront 2 did apart from maybe Lego)I sometimes I think Lucas arts is getting stupider every year, do they not realize that if they put enough effort into a excellent quality battlefront 3 that even non Starwas fans will buy it at an alarming rate. When will they ever learn they are rich enough to put out a decent star Wars game every year one of every genre RTS,RPG,lego and first person shooter.
But the question still is why isn't Lucas Arts making Battle Front 3? There is no reason they shouldn't, it would instantly be a big hit if they just decided to continue to work on it and release it. Who cares about Lego Star Wars 3 I want Battle Front 3.
