Conquer, rule and manipulate the Roman Empire with the ultimate goal of being declared as the "Imperator" of Rome. Set in a time when the mighty Roman Empire emerged to conquer the known world against powerful enemies, when gladiators fought to a bloody death in the Coliseum; when Spartacus defied the might of the empire; when Hannibal led his invincible army and his war elephants across the Alps to strike fear into the very heart of Rome itself; and when Julius Caesar finally smashed the Barbarian Gauls. This was a time of brutal confrontation between civilisation and barbarism, and of civil war as the ancient world's only superpower turned on itself.

This tries to get the original game feel back with missiles being more effective against archer, skirmisher and slinger units, as well as lower the shield value to make many units more vulnerable to missiles as was in the original game.
I've added further nerfs to shields for Legionary-Type units and other infantry with large shields. Also I've given War Elephants their original damage for their missile attack.
I've also improved armor for some Heavy Cavalry units, but reduced their defense skill. I'm giving Mercenary Units a higher cost for Campaign Recruitment and also for custom battle, so as not to offset choosing a faction that has access to Hoplites, or Numidian Cavalry, for instance. Most of the values I'm returning to the original game cost for Mercenary Units.
Also now I've made Chariots back to 2 Turns to train and Medium Boats train quickly. And I have also improved Stamina for some Late Generals Units, Roman Elite Cavalry, and improved and reduced some Stamina of other Cavalry.

- Parthia can train Mercenary Hoplites from Militia Barracks and up
- Parthia and Armenia can train Mercenary Peltasts from Archery Range and up

- This adds needed units to the unit roster for these factions
- Note that many other smaller factions get special Mercenary Units to train from before
- Copy in new export_descr_buildings file to get this working
------
Update May 28, 2024:
- Mercenary War Elephants for Numidia take 2 turns to complete (up from 1 turn)
- They still take 3 turns to complete on Basic Armies Mod version
------
Update April 21, 2024:
- Added Export_Descr_Buildings file for Mercs for Custom Battle for Original Game.
This give Governor's Buildings public order bonuses, law bonuses, population growth, trade bonuses, etc.
Also it allows several Mercenary Units to be trained for different factions on the campaign map,
and allows specialty units (like Naked Fanatics, Berserkers, Gothic Cavalry) to be trained
by standard buildings instead of needing a sacred groves or temple.
If you install the Basic Armies Mod version your units will have increased morale, defense,
lower upkeep, mass training in one turn, and battles will be more dynamic.
Backup with Original Files included in case you want to switch off.
------
This extension is fun! And have fun building your extended armies! With or without the Basic Army Mod!
You can actually save custom battle armies with Mercenaries and switch back off to multiplayer and it will remember 1 of each mercenary in case you want to use those in custom battle online for a faction that usually doesn't get them (such as Mercenary Hoplites, War Elephants)!
Good Gaming everyone!
