No show this side of Seinfeld loves the language of conversation (the wisecrack, the pun, the withering retort, and the muttered aside) as much. ... Week in and week out, Buffy just slays me.
When I was 11 I was hooked on Buffy The Vampire Slayer, it was fun and smart and I found Sarah Michelle Gellar really sexy. At 17, I don't watch it as much, as I am so busy with schoolwork and music commitments, but on top of my film watching, one of my favourite hobbies, I like to watch Buffy. And I think it is great, true Season 1 starts off a little rocky, but it gets better and better, and by the time we get to Season 5 we have more intelligent dialogue, more gripping story lines and the acting is even better at this point. Out of the later episodes, one that surprised me hugely was "Once More with Feeling". I was sceptical initially at how it would work, but it did, no matter how laughable it seemed at the time. The music was great, and the singing was surprisingly tuneful. Back to talking about Buffy in general, the theme song is funky and totally kicks ass. Then there is the suitably Gothic photography and the above average special effects and make up. Also, Buffy benefits from really good story lines, good dialogue and characters that we like and love. Buffy is a great and resourceful heroine, and the sexy Sarah Michelle Gellar does a great job in the role. Nicolas Brendan is appealing also as Xander, I confess when I was younger I had a slight crush on him, David Boreanaz is a brooding Angel, Seth Green is a likable Oz and James Marsters is a great Spike. On tops, I really like Alyson Hannigan as Willow, it is a shame though that she hasn't done anything particularly good since, and Anthony Head is wonderful as the benevolent Giles. And also Michelle Trachtenberg judging by this, Ice Princess and Harriet the Spy has all the means of being a promising actress in the future. As characters, even the villains are interesting. Overall, I love Buffy The Vampire Slayer. 10/10 Bethany Cox
The winsome Sarah Michelle Gellar is a huge improvement over bubblehead
Kristy Swanson as the new Buffy, moving with her mom to the "one-Starbucks
town" of Sunnydale, Calif. She's cute and pert but nobody's fool. [10 Mar 1997, p.3D]
For fans of youth shows, occult shows and action shows, this new, weekly Buffy the Vampire Slayer is the right program at the right time. [10 Mar 1997, p.70]
The results are mighty ragged in the series opener. The show takes strange shifts in tone, the dialogue isn't campy enough, and the violence grows tiresome.
It was one of the best show of his time.
It has all...Humor, Drama, Action, Romance, Characters development, Plot twists, Good ost, quatable dialogues, Morals, Innovation, Beauty, Gothic atmosfere....
Some season are better than others but it became important for so many people for a reason.
Almost everyone with a TV binging habit goes through a 'Buffy' phase. This TV show is perhaps the most influential piece of media in history. It set the bar for episodic storytelling and quality of production back in the nineties and that influence is still being felt today. Buffy The Vampire Slayer has something for everyone. I truly believe that every episode resonates personally with at least one person and that each season is written to perfection.
(except any episode with Riley in it 'cause he just stinks)
This show has literally changed my life. I know that sounds like anything a fan would say. However, I have it is true. The way that Joss Whedon wrote these characters was amazing. Whedon makes sure that you feel what the characters are feeling. This is the best TEEN Drama out there. Whether you call it "old" or or not. This show STILL after 20 years, but has the ability to shock and mesmerise fans with it witty humor, it's great acting, it's phenomenal story and writing, and the sadness that it can bring. This show makes you feel so much emotion that it hits you like a wrecking ball. I know men who have shed tears over this show..Modern teen dramas focus too much than they should on the Teen Drama aspect. Sure, buffy has romance, but but it doesn't play as big a role in the story which is good. Romance isn't as important as the story. The Vampire Diaries and Shadowhunters all have too much corniness which gets tiresome. Buffy has been nominated for Emmys which is the equivalent **** in the music industry. This is the only teen drama that has gone up against SERIOUSLY GOOD for shows such as The Sopranos. Other Teen Dramas are nominated for Teen Choice awards. Buffy changed the world. These other Teen Dramas probably changed teenage girls who didn't know what a good show really is.
