Zenless Zone Zero is without doubt the new best gacha action RPG out there, beating Wuthering Waves, Genshin, Tower of Fantasy, and the like by a mile. Its immersive world, unique mechanics, engaging gameplay, and compelling story have set a new standard of what a good ARPG should look like and are bound to appeal to almost everyone.
Brimming with style and boasting slick combat, Zenless Zone Zero’s few stumbles are easy to look past. While it’s much smaller than the massive open world of Genshin Impact or the galaxy-spanning tales of Honkai, it's all the better for it.
This game adheres to the 'easy to learn, hard to master' formula, showcasing systematic and simple action. While it creates a new style for anime games by utilizing various media formats in its narrative, the key challenge seems to be overcoming the standardized content, intermittent growth curve, and narrative hurdles.
Obviously, if the gachas and the character and equipment obtaining system in the other Hoyoverse titles don't appeal to you, then it certainly won't be Zenless Zone Zero that will change your mind - but, beyond that, this new title is certainly a more than valid action RPG that underlines the great awareness achieved by Hoyoverse, which only moves when it is sure of hitting the mark.
Ultimately, ZZZ delights with guiding design principles—remembering what so many adore about other Hoyoverse characters while breaking those moments up into short, snappier pieces. It’s rather easy to pick up and put down, and for something on the go, it’s certainly the preferable Hoyo title. For now, I’m all on board with New Eridu, and eager to watch the cast and world grow in many of the ways Honkai and Genshin have, too.
Zenless Zone Zero is style and is substance, a game with hypnotic action not only because of its visual accomplishments, but also because of how addictive is its gameplay. If HoYoverse properly supports it in the future, then this will be the studio's third victory.
After numerous hours bouncing between fun, if repetitive combat, and annoying characters occupying a forgettable story, Zenless Zone Zero falls well short of what it needs to be.
Zenless Zone Zero another game by Hoyoverse that will blow you off your chair!
This game is a mix of fun combat, pop culture reference, cool character and world designs!
Compared to its other title like Genshin Impact and Honkai Star Rail, the combat in Zenless Zone Zero is fast-paced and unforgiving. Introducing their new 3 agent switch mechanics that is fluid and flashy. The world and character design is a feast for the eyes. The open world offers activities such as managing your video business, going to the arcade, trying out local food (which buffs your next combat) and much more!
Zenless Zone Zero offers a lot in it’s release week and I cannot wait to see what more they can offer seeing the potentials throughout my playthrough.
The art, style and combat are very cool, smooth and satisfying, but that's pretty much all it has to offer, everything in between feels kinda bland. The writing is cliché and the sense of exploration is second to none. Going through the story felt like a chore.
This game is definitely not what I expected it... or rather wanted it to be. I am currently at level 26 and played this game for a good number of hours.
I expected an action-focused game with a cool urban vibe and retro-futuristic cities to walk through and what I got was a visual novel with a grid-based puzzle mechanic and some combat sequences in-between.
The combat itself looks visually amazing but it lacks depth in terms of its mechanics. You are not able to jump and you basically spam left-click, E, spacebar and sometimes you use your R ability which is your ult. You always walk through very linear corridors that look almost indistinguishable from each other and the enemies barely fight back most of the time. Yeah, the combat was the biggest letdown to me. It might get more challenging later in the game but that doesn't change the fact that ZZZ offers a very limited set of actions when it comes to the combat. It feels like the game has more control over your actions than you, the player.
Another thing that really bothered me is the number of systems and tutorials the game throws at you. I felt very overwhelmed and at one point I stopped caring because it was too tedious to put in the effort to remember everything. I just want to have a good time.
Aside from the lackluster gameplay itself, the graphics, the style, the animations, the music... just everything else when it comes to the art and music of the game is amazing! The story doesn't really matter too much. it's more of a slice of life thing, but I thoroughly enjoyed the character interactions in terms of the writing and the delivery of the voice actors.
To me ZZZ is an okay game to play casually on the side. Unfortunately it's a very beautiful and polished but kind of repetitive and shallow experience.
brain rot trying to download it takes up all my resources for a full day , the following day still sitting here after ive signed up to the game to watch it do even more prep work for me to log in, at this point as with any game that takes this long im already losing interest before i get into the game play. not a good look
Ok, this is really not what I was expecting too, the art style is pretty amazing for this game, but since it was free I have been buggy to know what exactly they are going to do for monetization, then I find this is a gacha, and gachas always wreck with the gamer experience... The combat is also way too simple, this is somehow a mobile game ported to be played in consoles and pc. Even the UI/UX has massive big graphic elements. What a pitty.
