Even the basic balanced alternation between boss slaying expeditions and tending your sheep will provide hours of fun, maybe even dozens of hours. And there are even more things to do in the game, including mini-games like fishing or playing backgammon. [Issue#321]
Cult of the Lamb is a masterpiece of an action roguelike game. It's fun, engaging, has a beautiful but brutal aesthetic, and is absolutely worth a playthrough. It's missing some replayability in my eyes, but it's overall a stellar title.
Muito bom, as mecanicas, personagens, seguidores e etc, bosses marcantes, final com plot twist, e sem contar que é muito legal o jeito q vc tem que cuidar do cult
While it lasted, Cult of the Lamb was a darkly enlightening experience that wholly delivers on the premise of its cutesy horror genre-mash-up. For the many who have been eagerly anticipating its release, that faith has been rewarded.
I really can’t give enough praise to the team at Massive Monster for creating something unique and memorable, and also one of the best indie games I’ve played in a long time. Sure, there's a few rough edges, but this charmingly bloodthirsty lamb that's hell-bent on slaying the unbaalievers has earned a special place in my heart.
Cult of the Lamb is both wicked and wonderful, with a lovely visual aesthetic to boot. Underneath its adorable veneer lies a game that is full of sinister surprises. As someone who doesn’t particularly prefer roguelikes, Cult of the Lamb’s innovative genre-splicing has made me a convert. I am eager to see what additional post-launch content Massive Monsters has planned.
"Cult of the Lamb" is a game that immediately captures interest thanks to its intriguing and well-structured storyline. The player takes on the role of an intermediary for an exiled god, tasked with building and managing a cult to free the god by defeating the other four gods responsible for its exile. This conflict between deities and the mission to create a cult gives the story a particular depth and charm that keeps the player's attention high.
The gameplay is exciting and engaging. The cult management is well-executed but tends to overshadow the dungeon exploration and combat, creating a dynamic that can feel unbalanced. The need to frequently return to the cult to avoid unrest among followers limits the freedom of exploration. Additionally, while the melee and ranged classes with rifles are well-developed, the absence of a magic class is noticeable, limiting the variety in combat options.
The top-down 2D graphics are very cute and perfectly suited to the game's theme, creating a visually appealing and unique world. The music is also pleasant and contributes to making the gaming experience even more immersive.
However, there are some significant issues that undermine the overall experience. The day's duration is too short compared to what is needed to effectively manage the cult, and the rapid aging of followers forces a continuous and frantic turnover. In 145 days of gameplay, I had to bury almost 70 followers who died of old age, which entails a significant loss of progression since new followers always start at level 1. The lack of a deputy who can manage the cult in your absence is a major limitation, forcing the player to often interrupt dungeon exploration to return to managing the cult.
Moreover, the kitchen is not self-managed and requires continuous supervision, adding an unnecessary level of micromanagement. Another weak point is that the cult is never in real danger; I would have expected attacks from followers of other cults or other external threats to increase the sense of urgency and challenge. The repetitive and unskippable cutscene animations become annoying in the long run, especially when it comes to witnessing the death of followers with the same repeated animation.
Despite these flaws, "Cult of the Lamb" manages to be extremely addictive. The combination of cult management and dungeon progression offers a unique experience that, with some improvements, could easily become even more enjoyable.
Based on my humble experience I think Cult of the Lamb is a really good game, with an interesting plot and very funny characters. The violence and the gore elements are very smart covered by the cuteness of characters and their cartoonish behavior. The gameplay is enjoyable and maybe the best feature of Cult of the Lamb, with an explicit tutorial which helps the player to easily learn the game mechanics. Also i find that the game story it's an excellent satire about religious fanaticism. The main protagonist of the game is The Lamb which feels more like an avatar than a main character, while the NPCs are more fun to watch their daily activities and different funny reactions based on their personal emotions. I can't say there is a really bad section in entire game. Maybe only few weak points, such as Save options which sadly are limited to an autosave only. You are unable to make a manual save point or to load a previous game save. As a conclusion that is my score for each section of the game: Gameplay 5/5; Story: 4/5; Characters: 3.9/5; Video: 3.2/5; Audio: 3/5; User Interface: 2.9/5. Overall I highly recommend to play Cult of the Lamb.
