My time with Lies of P was exactly the intense and gratifying experience that I hoped for. As one who holds Bloodborne in the highest regard as one of FromSoftware’s finest achievements, I found myself absolutely enamored with Round 8 Studio’s unique, clever take on the formula. While the game broadly functions similarly to the best the Soulslike genre has to offer, Lies of P‘s tweaks and refinements are so masterfully planned out and implemented that they make every moment of gameplay a pleasure. From the dopamine hits provided by exploring the labyrinthine level layouts, to the extreme elation of finally besting a challenging boss, there’s nary a moment of Lies of P‘s meaty campaign that feels wasted or unsatisfactory. With a post-credits teaser hinting at a second incredible twist on another literary classic lying in wait, the future looks bright for this new addition to the genre. Lies of P, welcome to the top!
Neowiz took something well-known and really made it their own with stunning results. Lies of P is a game you can easily get lost in - provided you don't lose your cool.
After playing many soulsborne games such as Elden Ring, Bloodborne, Dark Souls 3, and sekiro I have to say that the souls type of game became my favorite type of game, and after many ng+ playtroughts I became quite tire of them but only for the good reason and is because I was just putting thousends of hours in those games that i started to feel like I needed to play a new game that's when a friend recomended Lies of P, and after playing it multiple times I think it has become my second favorite souls type game just second to Fromsofware Magnus Opus Elden Ring and I will be fast in saying that it does so many things that Miyasaki could implement in next games like the Quest progresion sistem, the time based re-espect of character the perfect parry sistem implemented as a base mechanic and with that the fury attacks, and lastly the posture breack mechanic shown in the boss health bar .
Lastly something worth mentioning about this game is that ot fells very inspired in Miyasaki's works,I would say that it feels like the game director of lies o p is a huge fan of miyasaki and looks foward to implement many characteristic from dark souls but mostly bloodborne and sekiro while also implementing very interesting and new mechanics like the handle and blade sistem that allows you to create combinations of weapons that are very cool.
In general a great game and for me when a game has so many positives and very little negatives it deserves a 9.5 out of 10 with only Elden Ring and sekiro being up there, this game is very underrated and for being round 8 first attempt in a souls like I think they did it great. ATTE .C.B.
All things considered, Lies of P is a product that has managed to convince us from practically every point of view. Neowiz's new work, although it plays very defensively and doesn't do anything truly new for the category to which it belongs, is a title with a living and breathing soul that reveals all the passion lavished by the studio during development. An exciting plot combined with the perfect artistic direction are the flagship of a robust and exhilarating play structure that will delight all fans of the genre. Are you ready to discover the darkness that lies in the depths of Krat?
Lies of P is wearing Bloodborne’s cloak, but it has its own heart, one encased in metal and powered by ingenuity. It sometimes transfixes on tropes of the genre to its detriment, yet still overcomes by the sheer quality of its boss fights, combat mechanics, and world design. Lies of P’s steel heart may not be born of blood and flesh, but it still pumps heartily enough to be a worthy substitute for the real deal.
Lies of P is a solid, well-thought-out game that – apart from some minor
touches of originality – sticks closely to the formula developed by
FromSoftware. Although every aspect of this Soulslike could be better, I
believe fans of the genre will have a lot of fun playing it (if you can
call dying 30 times in a row a lot of fun, that is).
There’s some enjoyment to be found in Lies of P. Its action is competent, but lacks the polish and stir of its contemporaries. Its atmosphere can be engrossing, but it’s a hodgepodge of themes and aesthetics you’ve seen before that never rises above the familiar. I was never impressed by it, and I never stopped questioning the point of the entire endeavour throughout my time with it.
For the world design it’s very connected and well designed and the combat is 10/10 parry is so smooth and well made and anyone who says other than that get good bro+ bosses are one of the best i’ve seen in ‘souls like’ easilh memorable and fun to fight and story is very good and you can replay the game
Say what you wish about the infinite stamina anime combos , The AOE spam , The troll moves to bait you in , The homing projectiles , The two phases or the absurd windups to instantaneous attacks but is it worth "getting good" as they say against bosses that resort to blatant tracking just to give the illusion of difficulty? I laughed out loud when Champion Victor flew in the air to give me a dropkick but because I dodged "too soon" he did a 180 mid dropkick and hit me anyways . It's not about difficulty but about being well designed and listen if you derive pleasure from trivializing every mechanic by using the specter as bait while you relentlessly poke bosses in the butt , Carpet-bombing bosses with throwables , Using a guide for OP gear or overleveling then more power to you but to me that isn't fun . Souls and souls-likes if played as intended have devolved into being masochistically hard to satisfy a small minority of people but also braindead easy in order for everyone to be able to beat them (Give me difficulty options like Stellar Blade instead) . It's not like I didn't know that coming in either but nowadays if you want to play a cool looking action game "souls" is all you have (Thanks for inadvertently killing the hack and slash genre Miyazaki)
Good looking and competent riff on Bloodborne with a lot going for it. Unfortunately the level design is just average, the game is stiflingly linear and combat heavily relies on comically delayed attacks and swings or stabs without any windup or tell, as if the devs couldn't figure out how to make it challenging without resorting to what feels like cheap tricks. It's not a bad game per se, I was having fun for the most part, but hopefully the devs will address some of those fundamental flaws for the sequel.
Btw isn't it weird there were TWO clockwork punk soulslikes coming out in 2023 - Steelrising and Lies of P?
It compares to “Sekiro” as a “Witcher” series compares to Paul Jackson LOTR trilogy. Decent enough to exist but at the same time 0 adequate LOTR fans would try to compare them. Sekiro is a masterpiece and LOP is a B rated product.
Early game is really good. I enjoyed lot. Early game difficulty balance is better than any souls game. But late game is terrible. I annoyed and hate everything about it.After swamp section game started more and more annoying. And late area is just ridiculous. Like playing on a maze and you can killed by random environmental **** and you need to find your way again.ı was planning to second playthrough and now i just want to finish game delete and forget abot it.
