Headbangers: Rhythm Royale is a refreshing addition to the battle royale genre. Bringing bright and goofy vibes, Headbangers is ideal for someone with a taste for rhythm games and is looking to embrace multiplayer chaos. Although the core mechanics of each mini-game are essentially the same, they have been implemented in a variety of creative and silly ways. That being said, hopefully future updates to the in-game season pass will bring additions to the level roster to avoid gameplay becoming too repetitive.
Headbangers: Rhythm Royale is an interesting blend of simple rhythm and silly battle royale gameplay that’s both fun yet accessible. Its 23 minigames might not be unique, but they’re fun in short bursts. It’s great for all kinds of players, too! I’m interested to see how things evolve in the coming months, but in the meantime I’ll be having my pigeon bang his head to the beat.
Colourful, ridiculous and great fun, we’ve had a whale pigeon of a time with Headbangers: Rhythm Royale. Giving a musical twist the battle royale genre works surprisingly well, making a multiplayer game that’s more accessible than most – even if you’re not super competitive. We do wish there was a way to play locally – this would make an excellent local party game – but the inclusion of bots means the game can stay alive even if its playerbase dwindles. We hope it doesn’t, though.
Other than the online tournament mode, it's a bare bones experience. Longevity of this will hinge on future content and more diverse play options (couch co-op in particular). In its current state, though, the bite-sized events offer a welcome alternative to the rat race of other party royale titles.
I loved this game from the first round. This is far more interesting than fall guys, and definitely something fresh. Each challenge (or mini-game, whatever you call it) is pretty interesting and addictive. -1 point for not having Ukrainian localization while having russian one. And -1 point for the fact that the most part of the mini-games are not atrually rhythm-based, but still fun to play. Highly recommended. And also, as a musician myself, I find it a very interesting brain exercise.
Purchased on PS5 to play with my family. Due to Sony agreements, I could not refund this game even after wanting to uninstall after 10 minutes of gameplay.
The advertisement of a rhythm game is a complete lie. The button prompts rarely follow the rhythm of the music being played, and 90% of the games don't even require rhythm based gameplay to win. The games that could be considered rhythm seem bugged as the majority of the button presses do not follow the beat (think rock band on easy difficulty, but with 3x the amount of button presses, all against the organic beat of the music).
The game is also extremely difficult to anyone who is not a musician. Extremely niche game that caters to those with musical training (knowing instruments, genres, and popular songs).
The positives are the art style is cute, and the UI is nice.
If you are a musician with $20 to burn and time on your hands, go for it. For anyone looking for a casual battle royale experience, download Fall Guys or Fortnite and avoid this mess.
