World of Tanks Blitz on M1 Mac: Can your Apple Silicon Mac run it?

by | Jun 24, 2022

World of Tanks Blitz can run on M1 Macs via Rosetta 2.

World of Tanks Blitz is a must-try for any tank FPS fan. The younger sibling of World of Tanks, Blitz offers you the same experience but in shorter-duration matches, minimizing the time investment for one game.

With only a handful of tank shooters out in the market, World of Tanks Blitz is worth a try.

As a reminder, this is how we describe the different levels of performance:

  • Below 20 FPS: Unplayable: Laggy gameplay, full of stutters and slowdowns.
  • 20-30 FPS: Borderline: Can be OK in slow-paced games. Still, not optimal.
  • 30-45 FPS: Playable: Acceptable for most (most gaming consoles do this).
  • 45-60 FPS: Smooth: Fluid gameplay, with no perceivable stutters.
  • 60+ FPS: Very Smooth: For hardcore and professional players, a luxury for most.

We usually aim for 30 FPS because 30 FPS is enough to guarantee a smooth and fluid experience for most casual gamers.

World of Tanks Blitz on Mac: Verdict

World of Tanks Blitz has maintained the same historical tank shooter experience from the original World of Tanks, but with simpler upgrade trees and easier controls, making it much more friendly to new players. Combine this with the shorter match durations and it becomes really evident about their emphasis on minimizing the time investment.

It is also a rare example of a mobile game with a good PC port. The controls are much easier to use on mouse and keyboard, allowing for a less frustrating time moving and aiming at enemies. There are also no reports of any performance issues on Mac as well, so World of Tanks Blitz should be a pleasant experience for any Mac Gamer out there.

On the other hand, this version may feel too simple to PC gamers used to the vanilla World of Tanks experience. As Screenrant puts it:

World of Tanks Blitz is a very simplified version of its PC counterpart, but it lacks a lot of the polish and balance that makes the original so good.

ScreenRant: 2.5/5 – “Great”
Steam: 80% – Very Positive reviews
